MARTINEZ, Calif. \u2013 A Martinez woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a Tuesday evening collision that killed a 42-year old Hercules bicyclist, California Highway Patrol Officer Brandon Correia said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Christopher Rey Bunag was riding his bicycle about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday on San Pablo Avenue west of the restaurant The Dead Fish in Crockett, near the popular restaurant The Dead Fish, when he was struck and killed in what Correia has called \u201ca senseless act.\u201d<\/p>\n

Originally, the CHP had been told the involved vehicle was a blue pickup truck, he said. Late Wednesday, the agency received an anonymous call with information about both the driver and the vehicle suspected of having hit Bunag, he said. The caller said the vehicle instead had been a red Mini Cooper.<\/p>\n

\u201cShortly thereafter, we received a phone call from specific suspect driver,\u201d he said. The woman said she may have been involved in a collision, Correia said.<\/p>\n

Using evidence collected at the accident scene, witness statements, surveillance video and other information, CHP investigators obtained a warrant for the woman as well as her vehicle, he said.<\/p>\n

Officers placed the woman under arrest and took her car about 2 a.m. Thursday at her Martinez home, he said.<\/p>\n

The woman has been identified as Kylie Lanae Derksen, 28. She is facing charges of felony vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run resulting in death, Correia said. The woman was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.<\/p>\n
