Martinez Rotary presented a check to Emilia Costa and Bianca Lewis for Tech Trek, the program they participated in this summer. Pleasant Hill\/Martinez Branch of American Association of University women sponsored six junior high girls at the STEM camp which was held on the Sonoma State campus. The local branch of AAUW has been sending girls since 1998. <\/p>\n

Through hands-on problem solving and encounters with women role models in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), AAUW Tech Trek helps girls see their futures while having nonstop fun. This one-week summer camp is backed by AAUW\u2019s research and designed to make STEM fields exciting and accessible to girls in middle school \u2014 the age when girls\u2019 participation in these fields statistically drops.
