Martinez Police blotter for Dec. 1-15, 2018

On December 1st at 12:13 am, Officer Angoco conducted a traffic stop in the area of Sweetwater Drive and Muir Road. He contacted the driver, a 28-year-old man from Concord, who had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. The man was also in possession of 1.5 grams of methamphetamine. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 18-2873.

At 1:15 am Corporal Mayberry contacted a 38-year-old man from Martinez sleeping in his vehicle at the Martinez Marina. The man had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He was cited and released at the scene. Case# 18-2874.

Corporal Baillie and Officer Buda responded to Saybrook Place for a report of a man hallucinating, screaming and not making sense. Upon contact the subject tried to fight Corporal Baillie. A small struggle ensued and Corporal Buda ended up drive stunning the man. He was detained and booked into MDF. Case# 18-2875.

Officers found that 415 Richardson Street has squatters living in the garage and house. Extra patrol is being provided.

At 9:03 pm MPD officers responded to 601 Main St. for a report of the theft of a bicycle. While en-route, Corporal Mayberry located a subject with a bicycle matching the description provide by the victim in the parking area of Valley Convenient. He contacted the subject, a 22-year-old man from Bay Point, who was on probation and was in possession of the victim’s bicycle. The subject was arrested for 484 PC (Petty Theft) and 1203.2 PC (Violate Probation) and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case # 18-2878.

At 11:17 pm Officer Parsons conducted a traffic stop on Pacheco Blvd. near Sodaro Street. He contacted the driver, a 30-year-old man from Martinez. The man is on active probation and was in possession of .5 grams of heroin. He was arrested for 11350(a) H&S and cited and released at the scene. Case# 18-2879.

On December 2nd at 7:45 am, Officer Buda, Corporal Baillie, Sergeant Moore and Reserve Hue responded to the area of Sherree Drive/Sheree Court for a subject searching through vehicles and who possibly went into a neighbor’s house. Reserve Hue located the suspect in a side/back yard area of a house on Sherree Court. The man was positively identified as the suspect. The investigation revealed that the suspect entered 3 unlocked vehicles. In one of the vehicles he located keys to a residence and entered the residence, which was occupied at the time. He opened the resident’s briefcase while inside the house and removed an envelope containing gift cards and store credit cards that belonged to the victim. The suspect is on parole. He was booked into MDF for PC 460(a), PC 496, PC 3056. The property was returned to victims and other property located was logged into evidence. Case# 18-2881.

At 7:45 pm Officer Parsons responded to 3334 Alhambra Ave. (Safeway) for a report of a trespasser. Officer Parsons contacted a 53-year-old woman from Pleasant Hill who had a misdemeanor warrant for her arrest. She was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 18-2887.

At 10:26 pm Corporal Mayberry located a stolen vehicle via LPR (license plate reader) in the 1200 block of Vine Avenue. The vehicle was recovered. Case# 18-2889.

On December 3rd at 1:22 am, Sergeant Salamid conducted a traffic stop of a subject on a bicycle on Castro Street near Teresa Street. The unknown subject dropped the bike and ran. He then jumped over a fence in the 2900 block of Castro Street. A search was made but the subject was not located. The bike was logged into MPD evidence. Case# 18-2891

At 5:17 am Officer Angoco responded to 2335 Arcadia Place for a report of a stolen car. The car, a 2011 White Cadillac CTS (lic 8CUJ456), was taken sometime during the night. Case# 18-2894.

At 6:44 pm Ofc. Winslett took a theft from vehicle report from a resident on Tierney Pl. 18- 2895.

At 11:17 am officers responded to 1175 Arnold Dr. for a man yelling at people passing by. The man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Case# 18-2897.

At 6:20 pm Ofc. Sousa responded to Quik Stop on Alhambra Ave. for a robbery. A male subject brandished a firearm at the clerk and took an undisclosed amount of money. 18- 2903.

At 7:13 pm Cpl. Schnabel responded to Safeway for a robbery. A male subject attempted to take a cart load of energy drinks from the store, and when contacted by the store manager, he resisted and tried to pull the cart away. The subject fled the scene in a vehicle. The subject and his vehicle description were broadcast to surrounding agencies. Pleasant Hill PD contacted and detained the subject, who was positively identified by Safeway employees and video surveillance before being arrested. Case# 18-2905.

On December 4th at 3:07 pm, Ofc. Carney responded to a hit and run collision in the 600 block of Center Avenue. Case# 18-2916.

On December 5th at 7:12 pm, dispatch received an LPR (stolen vehicle) hit on Alhambra Ave. at Paso Nogal. A high risk traffic stop was made at Port Chicago HWY and the subject was arrested for possession of stolen property and warrants by Ofc. Sousa. Case# 18-2934.

At 10:10 pm Ofc. Ramos arrested a male subject for a warrant during a response to a disturbance at a residence in the 400 block of Richardson Street. Case# 18-2936.

On December 6th at 6:47 am, Ofc. Carney responded to a two vehicle collision in the 400 block of Morello Avenue. Case# 18-2939.

At 1:29 pm Ofc. Winslett took a burglary report form a residence in the 1200 block of Center Avenue. Case# 18-2944.

At 2:44 pm Sgt. Busciglio contacted and arrested a female in the downtown area for a warrant. Case# 18-2947.

At 8:30 pm Ofc. Sousa responded to Marina Market for a male subject attempting to shoplift. He arrested the male subject for possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. Case# 18-2950.

On December 7th at 4:30 am, Ofc. Ramos responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Tacoma Ave. for the report of a vehicle theft. Case# 18-2952.

At 10:02 am Ofc. Buda responded to a found backpack in front of Starbucks (1051 Arnold Dr.). There was ID to a county employee. Ofc. Buda case# 18-2953.

At 10:51 am Ofc. Lucido with his FTO Voyvodich located a subject on Court Street near Green Street. The man was arrested on a warrant and booked into county jail. Case# 18- 2954.

At 8:26 pm Ofc. Breinig conducted a traffic stop on F Street near Elmquest Court. He contacted the driver, a 48-year-old man from Fairfield, who was under the influence of a controlled substance. Ofc. Breinig arrested him for 11550(a) H&S (Under the Influence) and then located 28 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle. He was also arrested for 11378 H&S and 11379 H&S (Transportation and Sales of a Controlled Substance). Case# 18-2955.

At 11:00 pm Sgt. Salamid was on foot patrol in the 600 block of Pine Street when he stumbled upon a woman actively smoking methamphetamine. She was arrested for 11377(a) H&S (Possession of a Controlled Substance) and 11364 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia). She was cited and released at the scene. Case# 18-2956.

On December 8th at 12:26 am, Det. Wah was on patrol in the 1100 block of Arnold Drive when he contacted a 32-year-old man from Martinez. The man, who is actively on probation, was in possession of .8 grams of methamphetamine. He was arrested for 11377(a) H&S (Possession of a Controlled Substance) and 11364 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia). He was cited and released at the scene. Case# 18-2957.

At 1:00 pm Ofc. Ramos responded to a disturbance on Robinson Street. Her arrested a man for PC 647(f) (Public Intoxication). Case# 18-2961.

At 6:39 pm Ofc. Parsons responded to the area of Alhambra Avenue and Elderwood Drive for the report of a road rage incident where one of the involved parties pointed a black “machine gun” at the other involved person. The suspect vehicle was a blue Honda Civic, and the suspect with the gun was a male in his late teens or early 20’s with a pony tail. There were also two other occupants in the vehicle. Case# 18-2963.

At 11:24 pm Ofc. Angoco conducted a traffic stop at Pacheco and Denormandie Way. The driver was arrested on a warrant. Case# 18-2964.

On December 9th at 7:56 am, officers responded to Safeway (downtown) for a theft of a wallet. The male suspect, out of Oakland, took a patron’s wallet while the patron was getting coffee. He then fled the store. He was contacted and detained by Ofc. Buda on Alhambra Avenue at C Street. Ofc. Lucido arrived after completing his preliminary investigation and arrested the man for PC 148 (Obstructing a Peace Officer), PC 647(f) (Public Intoxication), and PC 3056 (Parole). Case# 18-2966.

At 1:34 pm Sgt. Gaul conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the Virginia Hills Shopping Center at Blue Ridge Drive. He arrested the female driver for a felony warrant. Case# 18-2969.

On December 10th at 2:38 pm, Cpl. Mayberry contacted a subject sleeping in a vehicle in the parking area of 555 Center Avenue. The subject had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case # 18-2872.

At 7:40 am Ofc. Voyvodich responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Castro St. for a deceased male. The deceased was found by roommates and there were no signs of foul play. Case# 18-2973.

At 12:31 pm Ofc. Winslett took a fraud report from California Check Cashing. The fraudulent checks were cashed and the estimated loss is over $5000. Case# 18-2981.

On December 11th at 8:15 am, Det. Miller recovered a stolen GMC truck (U-Haul with Arizona plates) on Vista Way near Palm Avenue. Case# 18-2991.

At 2:38 pm Ofc. Voyvodich investigated an attempted vehicle theft and burglary on Lang Street. An unknown subject broke into a pickup truck, tampered with ignition, and ultimately stole the speakers. Case# 18-2997.

At 7:19 pm Ofc. Sousa investigated a fraud at Mt. Mikes Pizza. The caller lives in Dallas. His credit card was used at Mt. Mikes Pizza to deliver pizzas to a residence in the 200 block of Vista Way. Further investigation revealed the pizzas were ordered on a computer from a resident in Discovery Bay. Case# 18-3000.

On December 12th at 9:36 am, Ofc. Ramos conducted a traffic stop on Court Street near Main Street. The male passenger was arrested for a warrant. Case# 18-3009.

At 2:52 pm Ofc. Voyvodich contacted and arrested a male subject for a warrant in the 1100 block of Ferry Street. Case# 18-3020.

On December 13th at 7:41 am, Ofc. Ramos arrested a male subject for a warrant at Walmart. Case# 18-3029.

At 1:34 pm Ofc. Ramos arrested a male subject at Nancy Boyd Park for possession of a controlled substance. Case# 18-3037.

At 1:54 pm Ofc. Lucido responded to an injury collision and physical fight on Saxon Street at Kelly Ave. There was a physical fight between neighbors. A male subject and his son, driving in a truck, stopped to engage in the fight. The truck was not put into a parking gear when they got out, and the driver’s son was run over by the unoccupied rolling truck. The truck then rolled through the garage door of a residence on Kelly Ave. before coming to rest. The driver got back in the truck to back it up, almost running over his son again, but the son was dragged out of the way by one of the combatants. He was ultimately transported to John Muir Medical Center. Case# 18-3039.

At 11:51 pm Sgt. Salamid and Cpl. Mayberry contacted five subjects near the marina skate park. Four of the subjects were cited for municipal code violations. The fifth subject, a female, was arrested for a warrant. Case# 18-3045.

On December 14th at 7:41 am, Ofc. Lucido took a PC 245 (Assault with a Deadly Weapon) report from a residence in the 2300 block of Harborview Drive. The weapon used was a chair. Case# 18-3057.

At 10:42 pm Sgt. Salamid was on foot patrol in the area of the Amtrak Parking lot when he contacted a 50-year-old man from Martinez. The man was screaming at himself and having hallucinations about insects crawling on him. The man, who is on probation for a drug offense, admitted to using methamphetamine earlier in the day. He was arrested for 11550(a) H&S (Under/Influence of Controlled Substance) and violation probation, and he was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 18-3060.

On December 15th at 9:17 pm, Sgt. Salamid was on foot patrol in the area of the Amtrak Station when he contacted a 40-year-old man from Martinez who was actively smoking methamphetamine near the 9-11 memorial. Sgt. Salamid arrested him for possession of .15 grams of methamphetamine (11377 H&S) and 11364 H&S (Drug Paraphernalia). He was cited and released. Case# 18-3066.

At 10:22 pm Cpl. Mayberry was on patrol when he contacted a 58-year-old man from Bay Point in a parked vehicle in the parking lot of 1021 Arnold Dr. (Walmart). The man, who is on probation, was in possession of 1.0 grams of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Cpl. Mayberry arrested him for 11377 H&S and 11364 H&S. He was cited and released by Cpl. Mayberry, Case# 18-3067.
