Patrick Owen Sullivan

Patrick O. Sullivan
1960 – 2026

Patrick Owen Sullivan, 66, passed away from complications of Alport’s Syndrome on August 1, 2026, in Rocklin, CA.

Patrick was born in Concord, CA in 1960 to Anthony (Tony) Joseph Sullivan and Janet Hilken Sullivan, who were an Engineer and School Teacher in Martinez, CA. Patrick graduated from the University of California, Berkeley before starting a lengthy career as a technical writer for such companies as 3Com, CISCO, HPE and Workday. He deeply loved and was dedicated to his family and lived in Martinez, Quincy, Concord, New Jersey, Danville, Livermore, and Rocklin.

Family vacations were a highlight for Patrick throughout his life. He deeply treasured times away with his family especially in nature. In his early years, he spent vast amounts of time in the Sierras, including living and vacationing in Quincy, CA, annual trips to Arnold, CA, and skiing every winter in Tahoe. As an adult, he continued his love of nature by regularly taking his own family to Arnold (Lakemont Pines) and Mendocino to enjoy time together in California’s natural beauty.

Patrick was an avid tennis player in high school and enjoyed the game with family and friends after graduating. Sports and family continued to be an important part of his life, whether it was watching Chandler play football, Aidan on the golf course, or Reghan on the volleyball court. One of Patrick’s most endearing qualities was also his humor. He often amused everyone at extended family gatherings by his dry wit and satirical commentary, which was even more entertaining than watching a comedy.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony (Tony) Sullivan, Janet Hilken Sullivan, and his sister, Nora Nelson (Scott Nelson), and is survived by his wife, Shannon Sullivan, his children Chandler, Aidan, and Reghan; his brother, Neil Sullivan and sister-in-law, Tracey Sullivan. We will miss him very much.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on October 16, 2026, at Old St. Mary’s Chapel, 5251 Front Street, Rocklin CA at 4:00pm.

Donations in Patrick’s memory can be made to the Alport’s Syndrome Foundation (https://alportsyndrome.org/)
