Will Thursday night be remembered as Nick Mullens’ coming-out party?

Let’s not go that far yet, but Mullens defied expectations and put on a show in his first NFL game, leading the 49ers to a 34-3 dismantling of the Raiders on “Thursday Night Football.”

Mullens got off to a hot start, throwing touchdown passes on each of his first two drives. He ended up with three total scores and 262 yards through the air.

The complete effort from the 49ers also included 145 rushing yards, 86 of them from Raheem Mostert, who scored his first career touchdown. San Francisco’s defense sacked Derek Carr and AJ McCarron a combined eight times, thwarting most of the Raiders’ infrequent scoring chances in the process.

This has been a tough season all around for the Raiders (1-7), but Thursday’s loss seemed to represent a new low. They posted 242 total yards on offense and their defense looked lifeless at times.
