The Martinez Recreation Division will host the annual Holiday Frolic event on Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th. Traditionally a one-day event, the Holiday Frolic has for the second consecutive year expanded to two days of family-friendly fun.
Friday activities will begin with the Martinez Arts Association Christmas Boutique at the Old Train Station from 11am-7pm. Holiday Frolic activities will begin at 5pm at the Main Street Plaza with hair painting by Citrus Salon, edible tree decorating provided by ChildTime, face and nail painting by Recreation staff, and a performance by the Outta Towners, an Alhambra High School student band. The Holiday Tree Lighting, sponsored by Tully & Weiss Attorneys at Law and Main Street Martinez, will begin at 5:30pm at Main Street Plaza, followed by the Children’s Light Parade at 6:30pm. The Holiday activities will carry on until 7:30pm, ending with an Ugly Sweater Contest at Barrelista Café.
The Children’s Light Parade will begin at City Hall, 525 Henrietta St. and end at Main St. and Court St. Groups, individuals, clubs and businesses are invited to participate! Applications for the Parade are available online at www.cityofmartinez.org or at the Recreation Office, 525 Henrietta St.
Free lighted wands, sponsored by MCE, are available, while supplies last, for children participating and attending the parade. To reserve a light wand, call the Recreation Office at (925) 372-3510.
Saturday activities will include a variety of holiday themed stops from 10am-2pm at various locations in downtown Martinez. The fun will include Candy Cane Lane at the Martinez Library, Hot Cocoa with Frosty the Snowman at the Martinez Senior Center, an Ornament Workshop at Barrelista, and many more.
