Martinez Police blotter for March 1-15, 2019

At 9:30 am, Officer Voyvodich was making a security check of Amtrak. He observed a 59-year-old man from Lafayette walking near the Chamber of Commerce and noticed he was obviously highly intoxicated. The man was arrested for public intoxication and booked into MDF. Case# 19-633.

At 12:15 pm, Corporal Mayberry stopped a vehicle on Monterey Avenue at Sierra Avenue. He contacted a 36-year-old man from Oakley. The man was arrested for driving with a suspended license for DUI and cite released. Case# 19-634.

At 7:44 pm, Officer Parsons contacted an 18-year-old man from Martinez in the parking area of 935 Alhambra Ave. (Valley Convenient). The man had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 19-638.

At 8:45 pm, Officer Montano was on patrol when she contacted two men on Berrellesa Street at Buckley Street. Both of them are on probation. One of them was in possession of 2.6 grams of methamphetamine and the other man was in possession of a loaded needle of heroin. Both were arrested for 11377 H&S and 11350 H&S. They were cited and released. Case# 19-639.

At 11:09 pm, Officer Lucido conducted a traffic stop on Berrellesa Street and Warren Street. He contacted a 25-year-old man from Martinez who was under the influence of methamphetamine. The man was arrested for 23152 CVC and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 19-640.

At 6:00 am, Corporal Mayberry was dispatched to the 200 block of Escobar Street for a suspicious subject. The suspect was saying sexual explicit things and making gestures. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. Case# 19-643.

Officer Buda and Sergeant Moore responded to auto burglary reports that occurred on Hull Lane. Case#19-645 and 19-647.

At 10:29 am, Sergeant Moore responded to Donegal Way for an auto burglary. The suspect smashed a window and took a bag that contained wine. Case# 19-648.

At 6:05 pm, Officer Lucido responded to 4141 Alhambra Ave. (Quality Inn) for a report of a man holding a knife and speaking about people following him. Officer Lucido arrived and detained the 59-year-old man from Bay Point. The man, who is on probation, was under the influence of methamphetamine and in possession of drug paraphernalia and .9 grams of methamphetamine. He was arrested for 11377(a), 11364 H&S and probation violations. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 19-653.

At 7:42 pm, Officer Montano was on patrol in the parking area of 1021 Arnold Dr. (Walmart) when she contacted a 37-year-old man from Martinez. The man, who is on probation, was

in possession of .6 grams of methamphetamine. He was arrested for 11377 H&S and cite released. Case# 19-655.

At 1:32 pm, Corporal Mayberry responded to Marina Market for a subject that was intoxicated and refusing to leave. He contacted the suspect at Ferry and Main and arrested him for public intoxication. He was booked into MDF. Case# 19-656.

At 8:05 pm, Officer Montano was on patrol and conducted a traffic stop at SR 4 at Pacheco Boulevard. She contacted the driver and passenger. Upon contact Officer Montano noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and marijuana in plain view. A search of the vehicle discovered 60 grams of marijuana, 30 pills of Oxycontin and 13 grams of cocaine hydrochloride. The two men, both from Antioch, were arrested for possessing marijuana, cocaine and Oxycontin for sales and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 19-657.

At 8:12 am, Officer Carney responded to a non-injury collision at Morello Park Drive and Morello Avenue. Case# 19-659.

At 9:33 am, Officer Voyvodich responded to county hospital where a male subject was refusing voluntary admission into psychiatric services. He was evaluated and placed on a W&I 5150 Hold. Case# 19-660.

At 10:20 am, Officer Miller responded to a residence in the 2200 block of La Salle Street for a death investigation of a man. There were no signs of foul play. Case# 19-661.

At 11:31 am, Officer Voyvodich responded to residence in the 3900 block of Alhambra Avenue for a death investigation of a man. There were no signs of foul play. Case# 19- 663.

At 12:54 pm, Officer Miller arrested a man on Howe Road for a warrant and for spitting on a female. Case# 19-667.

At 1:45 pm, Sergeant Busciglio responded to a hit and run collision in the 700 block of Court Street. He contacted the female suspect at HWY 4 and Alhambra Avenue. The suspect left because she felt there was no damage. Case# 19-668.

At 6:22 pm, Officer Espinoza responded to a collision between a marked police vehicle and a bicyclist on Alhambra Avenue and Mellus Street. Case# 19-673.

At 8:24 pm, officers responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Wayne Street for a verbal argument and possible shots fired. A man was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. There was no evidence of shots fired and no injuries. Case# 19- 675.

At 11:58 pm, Pleasant Hill PD pursued a reported stolen vehicle to just outside city limits. The pursuit was terminated and the stolen vehicle was soon located, unoccupied on Quiet Lake Place, where it struck a parked vehicle. No suspect(s) were located. Case# 19-677.

At 6:10 am, Officer Winslett took a burglary report at Chevron on Alhambra Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) shattered the front glass door and made entry into the store. The initial investigation identifies no loss. The investigation is pending video surveillance. Case# 19-679.

At 2:31 pm, Officer Miller contacted a female in the lobby who was reporting vandalism. While she was parked at the court house for a hearing her tire was flattened. Case# 19- 685.

At 4:23 pm, Officer Winslett arrested a man in the Home Depot parking lot after he committed a theft and attempted to leave in his vehicle. Case# 19-687.

At 4:31 pm, during the Home Depot theft investigation, listed above, Officer Carney observed a white Mustang spinning donuts in the Kaiser parking lot across the freeway. The male driver was arrested for reckless driving and his vehicle was towed. Case# 19- 686.

At 2:59 am, Officer Espinoza was conducting a DUI investigation on a man at Ferry Street and Mellus Street. The subject was uncooperative and placed in a WRAP Restraint and booked into county jail for DUI, hit and run, and battery on a peace officer. Case# 19-689.

At 6:17 am, Officer Voyvodich responded to a residence in the 4200 block of Alhambra Way to investigate a burglary, where two-nights prior the victim’s garage door opener was stolen out of his vehicle. The opener was replaced and the code changed. This past evening, the vehicle was broken into again. The new garage door opener was used to open the garage, and a vehicle and various other items were taken out of the garage. Investigation is ongoing. Case# 19-690.

At 7:30 am, Officer Winslett took an auto burglary report on Chattswood Drive at Roanoke Drive. The vehicle windows were smashed and multiple items were taken from the vehicle. Case# 19-691.

At 9:37 am, Officer Carney took a second auto burglary report on Chattswood Drive at Roanoke Drive. The vehicle windows were smashed and multiple items were taken from the vehicle. Case# 19-693.

At 9:15 am, Officer Voyvodich arrested a man at the skate park for a warrant. Case# 19- 700.

At 10:00 am, Officer Voyvodich arrested a woman in the 2300 block of Pomona Avenue for a warrant. Case# 19-703.

At 10:30 am, Sergeant Gaul arrested a man in the 400 block of Richardson Street for a warrant and possession of a controlled substance. Case# 19-704.

At 12:30 pm, Corporal Mayberry stopped a vehicle in the 2500 block of Alhambra Avenue. The female driver was arrested for a warrant. Case# 19-706.

At 3:15 pm, officers responded to an auto burglary in the 100 block of Begonia Court where an unknown suspect shattered a camper shell window and removed items. Case# 19-711.

At 10:05 pm, Officer Lucido responded to an alarm in the 600 block of Court Street. Upon arrival Officer Lucido noted a broken window and damaged alarm. A man was located inside the building and arrested. He had broken in to the building to sleep for the evening. Case# 19-714.

On March 8th at 9:00 am, Officer Buda responded to Sage Drive for an 85-year-old found deceased. No signs of foul play. Case# 19-717.

At 4:00 pm, Officer Ramos responded to Thistle Circle for a 50-year-old found deceased. No signs of foul play. Case# 19-722.

At 10:55 pm, Captain Roth attempted to conduct a traffic stop of two speeding vehicles travelling east on SR4 at the Glacier Dr. overpass. The vehicles failed to stop and Captain Roth pursued them. He was unable to catch the speeding vehicles and subsequently cancelled the pursuit.

On March 9th at 7:30 am, Corporal Mayberry stopped a vehicle on Center Ave at SR4. The driver was a 26-year-old man from Martinez. Corporal Mayberry noticed the ignition was “punched” and he conducted a vehicle theft investigation. He determined the 1999 Ford van was an unreported stolen out of Martinez. The suspect was booked into MDF for vehicle theft and violating probation. Case# 19-727.

At 2:15 pm, the license plate reader (LPR) located on SR4 in Hercules captured two stolen plates on a vehicle. The 2006 Scion was stopped without incident on SR4 and Pine Street. The VIN returned stolen from Oakley PD on 3/4/2019. The driver was identified as a 30-year-old woman from Martinez. She was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. She was also arrested for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. $7,500.00 for drug and paraphernalia possession and a $7,500.00 for theft. She was booked into MDF. Corporal Mayberry, case# 19-730.

At 10:06 pm, MPD received a call about 30 plus vehicles in the parking lot of 1021 Arnold Dr. (Walmart) engaged in a side show. Officers arrived and dispersed the vehicles. One vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 20-year-old man from Concord, was arrested for 23103 CVC (Reckless Driving) and his vehicle was impounded. He was cited and released. Case# 19-735 by Officer Leong.

At 10:23 pm, Officer Montano responded to 900 Roanoke Dr. for a report of a suspicious vehicle. She located the vehicle and contacted a 30-year-old man from Martinez. He was highly intoxicated and was arrested for 647(f) PC. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 19-736.

On March 10th at 7:15 am, officers were dispatched to the Quality Inn for a battery. Officers contacted a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman both of Martinez. It was determined the disturbance was about a theft. When the man and woman checked in they were given a key to a room that was already issued to a guest, but not currently occupied. The suspects helped themselves to the guest’s property, which consisted of clothing and electronic equipment ($2,000.00). They were both arrested for burglary and violating probation. They were booked into MDF. Case# 19-738.

At 11:30 am, Officer Buda responded to the Muir Lodge Motel for a 2009 Toyota Corolla that was stolen between 9:00 pm the previous night to the time of call. Case# 19-740.

At 12:30 pm, a man was refusing to leave Legal Grounds at 3750 Alhambra Avenue. Officers contacted the 26-year-old man from Richmond. He was arrested for a $10,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for drug possession and booked into MDF. Officer Buda, case# 19-741.

At 1:30 pm, Walmart called to report two suspects in the store stealing. Officers waited for the suspects to exit. They detained a 36-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Antioch. They were both arrested for theft and cite released from the scene. Sergeant Moore, case# 19-742.

At 2:30 pm, CVS called to report a suspect in the store stealing. Officers contacted a 56- year-old man from Martinez. He was arrested for a no bail felony warrant for theft and booked into MDF. Officer Buda, case# 19-743.

At 6:46 pm, officers responded to 560 Center Ave. (CVS) for a report of a woman acting strange. Upon arrival, the woman was contacted. Corporal Mayberry learned she had attempted to hit an employee. The woman was arrested for assault and possession of a controlled substance. Corporal Mayberry, case# 19-747.

At 11:32 pm, officers responded to Morello Avenue at Marie for a solo vehicle accident. The driver of the vehicle was last seen walking away north on Morello Avenue. Officers located a utility line pole sheared off at its base and damage to the guard rail leading under the train trestle. The suspect vehicle was left abandoned on Marie Avenue. The suspect was not located and the vehicle was not local. DNA swabs were obtained from the vehicle’s interior. Officer Montano took the report for the hit and run, case# 19-751.

On March 11th at 12:49 am, officers responded to the 4900 block of Milano Way for a report of a suspect trying to break into a detached garage. Officers located a man in the area. The man’s vehicle was parking about two blocks away on west bound Hwy 4. Officer Parsons arrested the man for being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and violating his felony probation conditions. (The garage was not broken into.) He was booked into county jail and his vehicle was towed. Case# 19-752.

At 11:33 am, Corporal Schnabel responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of Main Street. He contacted a male subject who was ultimately arrested for a warrant. Case# 19-764.

At 12:17 pm, Officer Voyvodich contacted a female at the Quality Inn. She was arrested for a warrant. Case# 19-778.

At 9:16 pm, Officer Espinoza conducted a traffic enforcement stop on HWY 4 at Morello Avenue based on a License Plate Reader (LPR) alert. The vehicle was associated with a burglary in Berkeley. A male and female occupied the vehicle. It was determined the female was responsible for the burglary. Officers from Berkeley PD responded to take custody of the female. Case# 19-782.

At 3:33 am, officers responded to an alarm at a business in the 1100 block of Arnold Drive where two people were observed on live video running into the business. Upon arrival the business was cleared and no one was located in or around the business. Case# 19-783.

At 11:26 am, Officer Miller responded to the 700 block of Alhambra Avenue for a report of purse taken from an unlocked vehicle. Case# 19-786.

At 7:30 am, officers responded to the Walmart parking lot for an auto burglary in which an unknown suspect smashed a car window and stole a backpack along with miscellaneous property. Case# 19-789.

At 8:01 pm, officers responded to Orchard View Ave. for solicitors in the area. Officer Montano contacted a 36-year-old female out of Long Beach. She had a warrant for her arrest and was cite released at the scene. Case# 19-797.

At 11:22 pm, Sergeant Busciglio stopped a man walking in the middle of Muir Station Road. The man acted suspicious and then ran west down the street. He was caught and 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine was located that he had dumped while running. The man also had mail on him that did not belong to him, and he is on felony probation. He was arrested and booked into county jail for possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance, violating his felony probation conditions, being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting officers and identify theft. Case# 19-798.
