Professional boxer Manuel “Tino” Avila visited Las Juntas Elementary School and worked with students in a Feet First Foundation training session.
Avila is a Vallejo native who trains at Fightkore in Martinez with various coaches and mentors including owner Sean Sharkey.
The session was led by fellow Feet First founder Dan Dorsett, who inspires kids with important messages about confidence and good behavior. While the kids are attracted to the athleticism, they also seem to respond very well to the wonderful messages of how good behavior is a reward in itself.
The 26-year-old featherweight boxer is 23-1 with 8 KOs in professional bouts. He has a promising career and many think he is destined for a World Championship.
