Soroptimist International of Martinez members and friends gathered to make no-sew fleece blankets for foster children and youth in Contra Costa County. Pictured above are Soroptimists members Theresa Hoffman, Evonne Siguenza, Margaret Mas, Beverly Gomer, Ann Stanley, Visitor Terry Ogondo (visiting member of SI Kakamega, Kenya, Africa), Judy Moon, June Rogers, President Sara Stout, Debbie Bradley, and Pat Eileen Fisher with their fleece blankets.
The members of the Alhambra High School S Club previously had completed some blankets as a service project led by their President Lily Skinner. All the blankets assist county workers in the transition of county children and youth in foster care.
The blankets will be presented to a representative from the Contra Costa County Family and Children Department during the Soroptimist International of Martinez Annual Awards Tea on April 13.
Soroptimist International of Martinez meets on the second Monday evening of every month and welcomes visitors and new members. The Soroptimist Mission is to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.
