Martinez police blotter for Aug. 16-31, 2018

On August 16th at 9:50 a.m. Officer Voyvodich’s license plate reader (LPR) alerted to a stolen vehicle parked in the 2400 block of Monterey Avenue. He contacted a female subject in possession of the vehicle key. The female, who was arrested, also had a warrant for her arrest. During the transport process the female tried to escape, but was unsuccessful. Case# 18-1937.

At 8:04 p.m. Officer Breinig responded to Ward Street and Estudillo Street for a male subject laying on the ground screaming. The subject was arrested for public intoxication. Case# 18-1942.

Officer Lincoln observed an individual on Pacheco at Palm Avenue, whom he knew had a $5,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for vehicle theft. The individual was arrested for the outstanding warrant.

Officer Angoco contacted an individual at the Joe DiMaggio Field who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The suspect was Cite Released.

Captain Roth was on patrol when he attempted to stop a motorcycle for vehicle code violations. The motorcyclist fled resulting in a pursuit and the suspect was able to evade officers.

Officer Angoco contacted an individual at the Marina Vista Park. The individual was arrested for a $2,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for disturbing the peace and a $1,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for remaining on school grounds without consent. While Officer Angoco was engaged with this suspect, he observed a wanted person in the area and arrested that suspect as well for a misdemeanor no cite warrant related to drug possession.

A fire was reported on Highway 4 near Alhambra Avenue. It spread up the hill to the ridge line along St. Mary’s Road to just south of F Street. The fire consumed 30 acres and did not cause any structure damage or injuries before it was contained. Con Fire remained on scene overnight to ensure the fire was extinguished.

An adult male hit a parked car on C Street. No one was injured and the male was arrested for DUI resulting in incarceration at the Main Detention Facility (MDF); the incident was investigated by Officer Carney and Officer Brinser.

Officers responded to a call at Whiskey Lane for a female who tried to break into the closed business. The adult female was located walking north from the bar and was found to be obviously intoxicated. There was no damage to the business and she was arrested and booked into MDF; Sergeant Busciglio handled the investigation.

Corporal Mayberry stopped a vehicle in the 2900 block of Alhambra Avenue.

During the car stop he arrested an individual for the possession of methamphetamine, heroin, and drug paraphernalia.

Sergeant Gaul was on foot patrol downtown when dispatch received a report of a subject refusing to leave the porch of a residence on Estudillo Street. Sergeant Gaul investigated and made contact with an individual who was arrested for public intoxication and booked into MDF.

Officers were dispatched to the Marina for a subject who believed explosives were in his car and requested the FBI. Officers contacted the individual and arrested him for the possession of methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia. The investigation found that there were no explosives. The suspect was booked into MDF by Corporal Mayberry.

Officers responded to Susana Street park for a battery in progress. The suspect was located leaving the park and the investigation resulted in his arrest for battery by Officer Parsons.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Ferry Street for the report of an individual kicking telephone poles and vehicles. Officers attempted to detain him, but he would not comply. He was directed to the ground through the use of control holds and eventually detained in a WRAP restraint device. No one was injured and the suspect was transported.

The Marina Market reported a male attempting to steal items and this individual was warned to not trespass at the business the day prior. The suspect was located at Amtrak, arrested, and booked into MDF by Officer Brinser.

On August 20th at 9:58 a.m., Officer Angoco arrested a male subject in the area of Berrellesa Street and Green Street for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Case# 18-1968.

At 10:32 a.m. Officer Winslett took a stolen vehicle report from the 900 block of Arnold Drive. The vehicle was later located, via GPS tracking, in the area of Howe Road and Catalpa Street. Case# 18-1969.

At 6:34 p.m. Officer Lagos was dispatched to Ian’s Yogurt for a female who may have committed a theft. He contacted the female, but could not establish a theft occurred. However, the female was intoxicated and subsequently arrested for public intoxication. Case# 18-1974.

On August 21st at 7:16 a.m., Officer Angoco conducted a traffic stop on Castro Street and E Street. The male driver was arrested for a warrant. Case# 18-1977.

At 12:01 p.m. Captain Roth and Officer Estanol were on patrol in the area of the 700 block of Main Street. Captain Roth attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a subject who failed to yield for him and fled. Captain Roth followed the subject who rode into the parking lot of Amtrak. Captain Roth pursued the subject on foot into Marina Vista Park. Sergeant Salamid then took over the pursuit as the subject rode onto Carquinez Scenic Drive. Officer Estanol then commandeered Captain Roth’s patrol car and joined Sergeant Salamid in the pursuit. The subject was then cornered by

Sergeant Salamid and Officer Estanol and was placed in custody when Officer Estanol tackled him. The subject was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for 148(a) PC Resisting Arrest and multiple traffic violations.

On August 23rd at 5:15 p.m., Officer Parsons arrested a male subject in the 1200 block of Estudillo Street for an outstanding warrant. Case# 18-1997.

At 8:50 p.m. Officer Brinser arrested a female subject for DUI. The female drove her vehicle onto the train tracks at the entrance to the marina; her vehicle got stuck on the tracks. Case# 18-1998.

On August 24th at 8:20 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Susana Street and Estudillo Street for a physical fight. A 25-year-old man from Concord was arrested for battery. He was booked into MDF. Corporal Mayberry case# 18-2001.

At 10:40 a.m. it was reported that an auto burglary had occurred overnight in the 100 block of Farm Lane. Entry was made via the door and a wallet, tools, and miscellaneous property was stolen. Officer Lincoln case# 18-2002.

At 10:45 a.m. Officer Buda responded to IHOP for an auto burglary. The vehicle’s window was smashed and it had occurred in the past 45 minutes. A laptop and miscellaneous computer components were stolen. Case# 18-2003.

At 2 p.m. officers were dispatched to a brandishing with a razor blade that just occurred in front of Vicente. The victim was a male juvenile. The suspect was identified as a 40-year-old man from Martinez. The suspect fled to his home and initially refused to exit. He exited a short time later and was arrested without incident. He was arrested for brandishing, child endangerment, and he was booked into MDF. Corporal Mayberry case# 18-2005.

At 4:15 p.m. Sergeant Gaul was going to attempt to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction on Pacheco Blvd. at Center Ave. The suspect vehicle did not see Sergeant Gaul’s vehicle and backed into it. The other driver was identified as a 54- year-old man from Concord. He was arrested for driving a vehicle with a suspended license for DUI and cite released from the scene. Officer Lincoln conducted the traffic collision report. Case# 17-2006.

At 9:03 p.m. officers responded to 3400 Alhambra Avenue for a report of a person on the sidewalk. Two adult males were contacted and arrested for extreme alcohol intoxication. Officer Brinser and Officer Breinig case# 18-2007.

At 10:32 p.m. Officer Breinig responded to Rankin Park for vehicles in the lot after hours. Upon arrival one was doing burnouts/doughnuts. The 28-year-old male was cite released for reckless driving and his vehicle was impounded. Case# 18-2008.

On August 25th at 12:20 a.m., Officer Montano stopped a vehicle at 7 Eleven (Morello Avenue) and located suspected controlled substances during a probation search. The adult male was cite released at the scene. Case# 18-2009.

At 10 a.m. Corporal Mayberry observed a 37-year-old man from San Francisco with an open container in the 3700 block of Alhambra Avenue. Corporal Mayberry attempted to contact the man, but he did not comply with Corporal Mayberry’s lawful order to stop and walked across the street. Corporal Mayberry detained him and the man began spitting at officers. He was arrested for delaying/obstructing a police officer, violating probation and booked MDF. Case# 18-2011.

At 2 p.m. a man was sitting at the bus stop in the 3400 block of Alhambra Avenue. A female unknown to him approached him. Without provocation she threw a drink at him, punched him in the face and threatened she would harm him with a razor. Officer Buda contacted the suspect, a 36-year-old woman from Richmond, in the 2500 block of Alhambra Avenue. She was positively identified as the suspect. Search incident to arrest revealed the razor. She was arrested for battery and threats. She was booked into MDF by Corporal Mayberry. Case# 18-2013.

At 7:58 p.m. Sgt. Busciglio stopped a vehicle and conducted probation searches on the occupants. The driver was cited for driving on a suspended license and the vehicle was towed. Evidence of identity theft was located in the vehicle and a criminal case was taken to be forwarded to the DA’s office against the driver and passenger. Items located were stolen mail and ID cards. Case# 18-2014.

On August 25th at 9:48 p.m., Officer Montano took a report that campaign signs were vandalized. Case# 18-2015.

At 8:20 p.m. Corporal Mayberry stopped a vehicle on Marina Vista at Shell Avenue. He contacted a 27-year-old woman from Martinez. She was arrested for possession of heroin. Cite released. Case# 18-2017.

At 10:30 a.m. Corporal Mayberry observed a 37-year-old man from San Francisco, walking through the intersection of Escobar Street and Estudillo Street. The man stopped in the middle of the cross walk in front of Corporal Mayberry’s patrol car and drank a beer. Corporal Mayberry told him to stop, but he did not comply. Corporal Mayberry ran after him and detained him. He was arrested for resisting/delaying an officer, violating probation and booked into MDF. Corporal Mayberry arrested this man under these same circumstances yesterday except the man didn’t spit on anyone today. Case# 18-2019.

At 9:04 p.m. Officer Montano arrested a 27-year-old woman from Concord for trespassing at Safeway 3334 Alhambra Avenue. She was booked into MDF. Case# 18-2020.

At 10:53 p.m. Officer Brinser arrested a 30-year-old man from Martinez on Main Street for disorderly conduct/drunk in public, resisting arrest and probation violation. He was booked into MDF. Case# 18-2021.

At 1:01 a.m. Officer Brinser arrested a 48-year-old man on Green Street near Berrellesa Street for disorderly conduct/drunk in public. He was booked into MDF. Case# 18-2023.

At 11:02 a.m. Sergeant Moore responded to 1804 Arnold Dr., where windows on 3 vehicles were shattered overnight. Case# 18-2025 and Case# 18-2027.

On August 27th at 12:03 p.m., Officer Angoco conducted a traffic stop and arrested the female driver for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Case #18- 2028.

At 2:42 p.m. Officer Lagos took a robbery report from Home Depot, where a generator was take and the loss prevention agent was threatened (no weapons). The investigation is continuing. Case# 18-2030.

At 8:12 p.m. Corporal Mayberry arrested a female in the 900 block of Country Run Dr. for being under the influence of a controlled substance and trespassing. Case# 18-2035.

On August 28th at 12:46 a.m., Corporal Mayberry arrested a male subject at Safeway (downtown) for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Case# 18- 2037.

At 4:04 a.m. a female bicyclist collided into the back of a parked vehicle in the 400 block of Elderwood Drive. She was transported to the hospital. Case# 18-2038.

At 4:21 a.m. while at the scene of the bicyclist collision, Sergeant Busciglio contacted a male subject sleeping in a vehicle. He was arrested for DUI. The subject was not involved in the bicycle collision. Case# 18-2039.

At 5:38 a.m. Corporal Schnabel responded to the 2100 block of Center Ave. for 2 vehicle burglaries. In both incidents a window was smashed. A lap top and a lap top case were taken. Case# 18-2040/Case# 18-2041.

At 5:57 a.m. Corporal Schnabel responded to the 300 block Willow Creek Ln. for a vehicle burglary, by way of window smash. The loss was unknown at the time of report. Case# 18-2042.

At 6:18 a.m. Corporal Schnabel responded to the 300 block Willow Creek Lane for a vehicle burglary, by way of window smash. A brief case was taken. Case# 18-2043.

At 1:45 p.m. Officer Carney responded to the 300 block Willow Creek Ln. for a vehicle burglary, by way of window smash. The loss was sunglasses. Case# 18-2045.

At 4:43 p.m. Officer Lagos responded to 330 Ferry St. (Universal Sports Academy) for a report of an intoxicated female. The female was arrested for public intoxication. Case# 18-2047.

At 7:12 p.m. Officer Lagos responded to the 3500 block of Alhambra Avenue for a possible intoxicated male subject. He arrested the subject for public intoxication and an outstanding warrant. Case# 18-2049.

At 12:15 a.m. Officer Breinig responded to a solo vehicle collision in the 2300 block of Pacheco Blvd. The male driver was arrested for DUI. Case# 18-2051.

At 7:15 p.m. Officer Leong responded to a residence in the 1500 block of Grandview Court for possible shots fired. The male neighbor accidentally discharged a .223 round inside of his residence. The round went thru a window and struck the neighbors brick fireplace. There were no injuries. Case# 18-2057.

At 8:08 a.m. Detective Williamson responded to the 2700 block of Waterfront Road to recover a reported stolen vehicle out of Oakland. At time of report there is no suspect information. Case# 18-2062.

At 3:51 p.m. Officer Angoco arrested a female subject in the 300 block of F Street for public intoxication. Case# 18-2066.

At 7:15 a.m. Officer Lincoln took a vehicle burglary report at Walmart. The loss was a toolbox. Case# 18-2075.

At 8:15 a.m. Officer Buda took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 600 block of Alpine Court. Case# 18-2077.

At 12 p.m. Officer Buda took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 100 block of Donegal Way. Case# 18-2079.

At 12:30 p.m. Corporal Mayberry arrested a male subject at the skate park for 2 warrants. Case# 18-2080.

At 2:15 p.m. Sergeant Gaul stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of Berrellesa Street. The male passenger was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Case# 18-2083.

At 11:42 p.m. officers responded to Abel West used car dealership on Alhambra Avenue. for a report of an auto burglary in progress. Upon police arrival a male subject attempted to hide in the back of a SUV and ignored commands to come out. He was apprehended with the assistance of K9 Brut. Case# 18-2086.
