A City Council Special Meeting will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.
At the Work Session on February 13, 2019, staff will ask Council for input on which Core Services and which Economic Centers to prioritize during the next two-year budget cycle. With clear direction from the Work Session, staff will drill down on specific strategies and return to Council for Phase III.
The objective of the Phase II work session is to:
1) Rank Core Services
2) Prioritize which Economic Center(s) the City wishes to focus efforts on over the next two years based on a set of criteria.
3) Review desired outcomes of CED project work and investment over the next two years which will help set goals and objectives.
The City’s General Plan and Downtown Specific Plan, as well as the 2017-2019 Strategic Plan emphasize the importance of economic development in shaping the City’s future growth to preserve and enhance the quality of life for Martinez residents.
Community and Economic Development (CED) staff has been working on the City’s Core Economic Development Services, as well as the priorities identified in the City Council’s Project Priority List and assigned to CED staff. In addition, staff has been moving towards the completion of the Economic Development Action Plan (EDAP) as a vision and implementation document to achieve the City’s Strategic Plan Goal of building “…a healthy local economy through business development.”
