Martinez Chamber Board Meeting Today

The Martinez Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will meet at noon today in the Boardroom of Martinez Unified School District, 921 Susana St.

Tree Giveaway Thursday

Assemblymember Tim Grayson, the Concord Democrat who represents Martinez in the Assembly, will be host of a free shade tree giveaway at 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Winslow Center, 2590 Pleasant Hill Road, Pleasant Hill.

Those interested are being asked to call 925-521-1511 to indicate they will be stoppyg by to pick up a free silver maple tree or sapling. Grayson also will be available to discuss legislation and ways to keep both California and the planet green.

Kiwanis Club Rummage Sale Friday, Saturday

The Kiwanis Club Rummage Sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the intersection of Allen and Ferry streets.

Items for sale include clothing, furniture, household articles, yard and garden equipment.

Those wanting to donate items may do so from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday at 750 Allen St.

Articles needing to be picked up may call 925-586-3626.

Donations must be in clean, usable condition. Smaller items may be placed in boxes or bags.

The Martinez Kiwanis Club will use they money for its public services, such as providing college scholarships and support of local nonprofit organizations.

CASA Webinar Tuesday For Those Wanting To Advocate For Children

An informational webinar for those who want to advocate for children in foster care will be available at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the website https://cccocasa.org/menus/become-a-volunteer.html.

Annual Downtown Spring Cleanup May 4

Volunteers are being asked to meet in the downtown Martinez area May 4 to clean up the shopping district.

Theyā€™ll be power-washing the sidewalks, picking up trash, raking leaves and pulling weeds. In a reward for their effort, the volunteers will be treated to coffee, juice and doughnuts in the morning and a barbecue lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Children with a parent or guardian may participate.

Shifts may start as early at 6 a.m., although many will start at 9 a.m. Those interested in participating may email director@mainstreetmartinez.com.
