The Martinez Community Foundation (MCF) is currently accepting grant applications for its fall 2018 grant review. Nonprofit organizations with projects and programs that are located in, or which primarily serve Martinez and its residents are encouraged to submit grant applications. The deadline is Sept. 15, 2018.
Established in 1993, MCF has provided nearly $664,000 in grants to projects and programs that benefit the community and the people who live and work in Martinez in the foundation’s areas of focus – community services, cultural and community celebrations, economic development, education and the environment.
“The Foundation is continuing in its commitment to help Martinez become a better community for residents and businesses, as well as for the non-profit organizations that serve the people who live here,” said Stuart M. McCullough, MCF Board president. “We strive to award grants to organizations and projects that align with the goals of MCF, and distribute the funds in a manner that will provide benefit to the greatest number of people, and to those that will have a lasting effect. We are committed to leaving a legacy. We are unwavering in that effort.”
The MCF Board has awarded grants to such programs and projects as the Martinez Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club of Diablo Valley,
Contra Costa Crisis Center, John Muir Association, Loaves and Fishes, Martinez Early Childhood Center, Martinez Historical Society, Main Street Martinez, and Worth a Dam, among other worthy programs. Numerous grants have also been provided to the Martinez Unified School District for various educational programs and projects.
The Foundation does not award grants to individuals, to for-profit organizations or to new or start-up organizations, nor may grants be used for research, administrative or operating expenses, or for sectarian religious functions. Not-for-profit organizations must have current federal tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status.
