Late last week it was relayed to the staff of the Gazette that the newspaper would cease printed publication at the end of the year. Gibson Publishing offered no other details.
The Gazette began printing in September 1858, making it the oldest continuous publication in Contra Costa County.
The staff of the Gazette wishes to thank the countless thousands who have supported and contributed to this community newspaper for over 161 years.
Our last edition is scheduled for Sunday, December 29. As more details and any future plans become known we will pass them along.
