Martinez Police blotter for Sept. 1-15, 2019

• On September 1st at 12:46 am, Officer Angoco arrested a man for public intoxication in the area of Green Street and Estudillo Street, where he was nearly struck by a vehicle while walking into traffic. Case #19-2361.

• At 8:30 am, Officer Lucido responded to a business in the 2800 block of Howe Road for an attempted theft of a catalytic converter. The man arrested was observed on the property a couple hours earlier, and video surveillance showed the man under the vehicle with a saw. Case #19-2362.

• At 10:30 am, Corporal Mayberry took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 100 block of Green Street. Case #19-2363.

• At 3:00 pm, officers received an LPR stolen license plate alert for a vehicle travelling eastbound on HWY 4. Corporal Breinig stopped the vehicle without incident as it passed Alhambra Avenue. The male driver was arrested for multiple warrants and possession of methamphetamine. The VIN number on the vehicle had been tampered with and other attempts to locate a VIN produced negative results. With CHP’s assistance a VIN was located, and the vehicle was in fact reported stolen to Walnut Creek PD in 2014. Additional charges of possession of the stolen vehicle and altering/defacing/destroying the VIN. Case #19-2364.

• At 6:26 pm, Corporal Breinig arrested a man at Amtrak for public intoxication. Case #19-2365.

• At 6:33 pm, Officer Weems investigated a deceased man at a residence in the 100 block of Gilbert Court. There were no signs of foul play and it appears the man passed due to natural causes. Case #19-2366.

• At 11:02 pm, Officer Weems arrested a man for evading officers and reckless driving. Officer Weems observed the man travelling at a high rate of speed and failing to stop at posted stop signs on Morello Avenue. The man ultimately collided with another vehicle in the intersection of Morello Avenue and Center Avenue. Case #19-2368.

• At 3:00 am, Sergeant Busciglio observed a suspicious vehicle travelling in the 4000 block of Alhambra Way. The driver of the vehicle saw Sergeant Busciglio and abandoned the vehicle on Walnut Avenue. The vehicle was reported as stolen and the driver was not located. Case #19-2368.

• At 9:15 am, Officer Miller investigated an attempted burglary at Creek Monkey.

Entry into the business was attempted through the HVAC system, but the suspect(s) failed. Case #19-2370.

• At 11:46 am, Corporal Schnabel took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 100 block of Costanza Drive. Case #19-3282.

• At 3:45 pm, Officer Voyvodich located an unoccupied stolen vehicle at Marina Vista Avenue and Water Bird Way. Case #19-2384.

• At 10:18 pm, Officer Voyvodich responded to a theft in the 3600 block of Alhambra Avenue. An unknown man approached the victim on a bicycle and asked for money. The victim was taking money out of her cellphone wallet and the unknown man grabbed the cellphone wallet and fled on the bicycle. Case #19-2387.

• On September 4th at 2:25 am, Officer Voyvodich responded to a solo vehicle, roll over collision at Alhambra Avenue. The female driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was in possession of a controlled substance. Case #19- 2388.

• At 9:42 am, Corporal Schnabel took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 100 block of Figtree Lane. Case #19-2394.

• At 4:42 am, Officer Ramos took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 100 block of Figtree Lane. Case #19-2402.

• At 8:30 am, Corporal Mayberry conducted a traffic enforcement stop for speed in the 2200 block of Pacheco Boulevard. The female driver refused to sign the citation drove away. A short pursuit ensued and the female pulled over and initially refused to get out of the vehicle because she was on the phone. Once out of the vehicle the she was arrested for evading an officer and possession of controlled substance. Case #19-2404.

• At 11:10 am, officers received an LPR alert of a stolen vehicle travelling eastbound on HWY 4. Officer Lucido located the vehicle and deployed the Star Chase device, but was unsuccessful. A pursuit ensued on Alhambra Avenue until it was terminated for safety reasons by the watch commander. At 4:15 pm, the vehicle was located unoccupied in the 500 block of Roanoke Drive. Case #19-2406.

• At 11:30 am, officers responded to Fresh Start Café for a suspicious man refusing to leave the business. Corporal Mayberry and Officer Buda contacted the man, who provided multiple false names. After a search of the man he picked up a pen and took a stance as if to stab Corporal Mayberry. Officer Buda gained control of the man and he was arrested for resisting/obstructing an officer, violating probation and providing false name. Case #19-2408.

• At 12:45 pm, Officer Lucido responded to Amtrak for a man threatening passengers and throwing paper at the counter staff. Upon contact the man refused to provide his name or leave Amtrak. He was arrested for resisting/obstructing an officer and trespassing. Case #19-2409.

• At 2:45 pm, Officer Buda took a theft report at CVS. An unknown suspect(s) entered the break room, stole items and a purse. The purse contained vehicle keys. The vehicle was also stolen, but later located unoccupied in the rear parking lot of the John Muir Inn. Case #19-2410.

• At 6:33 pm, Officer Ramos investigated a solo vehicle collision at Walmart, where a delivery truck struck a fire hydrant before leaving the area. Case #19-2414.

• On September 6th at 12:07 am, Officer Parsons conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Main Street. The male driver was arrested for possession of controlled substances and driving on a DUI suspended license. Case #19-2416.

• At 3:48 am, Officer Parsons arrested a man in the 3600 block of Alhambra Avenue for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Case #19-2417.

• At 5:15 am, Officer Montano conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 4100 block of Alhambra Avenue. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Case #19-2418.

• At 7:45 am, Officer Lucido responded to an interrupted burglary at a residence in the 200 block of Augustine Drive. The reporting party arrived to do work at the residence and observed an unknown man attempting to break into the residence and a vehicle. The unknown man brandished a handgun and told the worker to not take any pictures. The man fled the area. Case #19-2420.

• At 9:20 am, Officer Voyvodich took a burglary report at the junior high school, where unknown person(s) entered a window and stole instruments and other items from the music room. Case #19-2421.

• At 1:30 pm, Corporal Mayberry responded to States Coffee for a man that urinated on the couch. The man was arrested for public intoxication. Case #19-2425.

• At 3:30 pm, Officer Lucido arrested a man in the Village Oaks Shopping Center for possession of methamphetamine. Case #18-2426.

• At 4:30 pm, Corporal Mayberry conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Pacheco Boulevard and Shell Avenue. The driver was arrested for a warrant. Case #19-2427.

• At 7:14 pm, Officer Weems responded to a solo vehicle collision where the vehicle went off road and into a ditch on Alhambra Avenue, near MaCalvey Drive. Case #19-2430.

• At 9:07 pm, Officer Montano responded to Home Depot for theft of a purse. Case #19-2431.

• At 11:30 am, Corporal Mayberry arrested a man in the 200 block of Robinson Street for a warrant. Case #19-2433.

• At 3:00 pm, Officer Ramos took a burglary report from a resident in the 400 block of Trailview Circle. Entry was made through the garage and a take was computer equipment and tools. Case #19-2434.

• At 3:15 pm, Officer Lucido arrested a man in the 500 block of Center Avenue for driving on a DUI suspended license. Case #19-2435.

• At 8:15 pm, Officer Weems responded to Lucky’s for a theft of alcohol and hit and run, as the male suspect struck a parked vehicle when fleeing. The investigation is ongoing. Case #19-2437.

• At 12:00 pm, Corporal Mayberry attempted to stop a motorcycle on Alhambra Avenue at Marina Vista Avenue. The motorcycle failed to yield and a short pursuit ensued. Corporal Mayberry terminated his pursuit for safety reasons when the motorcycle went off road and paralleled the train tracks. Case #19-2438.

• At 12:30 pm, Corporal Mayberry responded to Luigi’s for a trespasser. The woman was arrested for trespassing and possession of methamphetamine. Case #19- 2439.

• At 4:00 pm, Officer Lucido responded to Safeway (downtown) for a theft. Corporal Mayberry located the responsible and he was arrested for theft, trespassing and violating probation. Case #19-2441.

• On September 9th at 6:46 am, Corporal Schnabel responded to the 300 block of Eastgate Lane for two men going through the HOA dumpsters. One man was arrested for possession of stolen property (vehicle) and possession of controlled substance. The second man was cited for a municipal code violation. Case #19- 2444.

• At 1:04 pm, Officer Miller located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the 2300 block of Harbor View Drive. Case #19-2450.

• On September 10th at 3:25 am, Officer Voyvodich responded to a residence in the 3600 block of Pine Street for a man on a ladder possibly trying to break into the apartment. Incident #190910003.

• On September 11th at 12:15 am, Officer Voyvodich conducted a probation search on a man he contacted in the 3500 block of Pacheco Boulevard. The man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Case #19-2467.

• At 1:57 pm, officers responded to the area of SR 4 and Alhambra Avenue for an LPR alert on a stolen vehicle. Corporal Schnabel located the vehicle, and with the assistance of CHP, a high risk stop was conducted on Howe Road near Pine Street. The male driver was arrested for a warrant, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Case #19-2473.

• At 7:11 pm, Corporal Breinig arrested a man at Amtrak for vandalism to a vehicle. Case #19-2478.

• At 6:51 am, Officer Winslett took an auto burglary report at the John Muir Inn. Case #19-2480.

• At 7:06 am, Officer Estanol took an auto burglary report at a residence in the 1000 block of Veterans Court. The victim’s wallet was taken. Case #19-2421.

• At 9:57 am, Officer Estanol responded to the 700 block Marina Vista Avenue for the report of a stolen license plate. Case #19-2483.

• At 2:46 pm, Officer Estanol responded to a collision involving a motorcycle into an SUV. The motorcycle was a reported stolen vehicle. Case #19-2487.

• At 4:32 pm, Sergeant Gaul located a stolen motorcycle in the 2000 block of Olympic Drive. Case #19-2488.

• On September 13th at 8:00 am, Officer Wah responded to Hidden Valley Park for a man ingesting drugs in the women’s bathroom. The man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and violating probation. Case #19-2490.

• At 11:00 am, Officer Lucido conducted a traffic enforcement stop on Pacheco Boulevard at Morello Avenue. The driver was arrested for possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia and violating parole. Case #19-2491.

• At 12:00 pm, Corporal Mayberry responded to Chase Bank on Alhambra Avenue for a robbery. The unknown man handed the teller a note stating he had a firearm. The man fled in a vehicle with approximately $1000. The same man is possibly responsible for robberies at other Chase Banks in the county. Case #19-2492.

• At 2:15 pm, Corporal Mayberry responded to a residence in the 2700 block of Geneva Street for a deceased man. The passing appeared to be of natural causes. Case #19-2493.

• At 4:30 pm, Corporal Mayberry arrested a man at a residence in the 2100 block of Tacoma Avenue for multiple warrants. Case #19-2496.

• On September 14th at 12:23 am, Officer Angoco stopped a motorcycle on Buena Vida Court. The male rider was arrested for a warrant. Case #19-2502.

• At 1:47 am, Officer Weems arrested a man on Fountainhead Circle for violating a restraining order. Case #19-2504.

• At 9:50 am, Officer Wah took a burglary report at a residence in the 400 block Diablo Way. Entry was made by breaking a garage window; jewelry was taken. Case #19-2505.

• At 2:45 pm, Sergeant Gaul responded to the area of Ferry Street and North Court Street for a man possibly masturbating. Sergeant Gaul located the man, who fled into an East Bay Regional Park bathroom, and in the process discarded a sack of methamphetamine in one of the stalls. The masturbation was unfounded and the man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Case #19–2407.

• At 3:20 pm, Officer Lucido contacted several people at 7-11 on Pacheco Boulevard. One man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Case #19-2508.

• At 3:20 pm, Officer Angoco responded to a vehicle burglary in the 700 block of Shell Avenue. Taken from the vehicle storage compartment area was a 12 Gauge shotgun. Case #19-2509.

• On September 15th at 7:30 am, Officer Buda contacted several people behind Togo’s on Arnold Drive. One man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Case #19-2512.

• At 11:45 am, Officer Lucido arrested a man at the old Amtrak train station for possession of methamphetamine. Case #19-2513.

• At 5:31 pm, Officer Wah arrested a man for DUI hit and run on Franklin Canyon Road. Case #19-2515.

• At 8:25 pm, Officer Parsons located an unoccupied stolen vehicle on Minaret Drive and Pinnacle Drive. Officers set up to surveil the vehicle when it went mobile. A pursuit ensued into Concord and was terminated when the vehicle entered I680 in the wrong direction. The vehicle was later located unoccupied at the rear of Sun Valley Mall. Case #19-2519.

• At 8:32 pm, Officer Weems responded to a robbery in the marina. A travelling male from Oregon claimed to have been robbed at knife point by a male and female, also from Oregon. Taken was a backpack of clothing. Case #19-2517.

• At 4:02 am, Officer Weems responded to Autopia for a burglary. Unknown party(s) broke two windows and entered the business. It appears cigarettes were rummaged through, but the loss is unknown at the time of incident. The broken windows were secured by the corporation yard. Case #19-2520.
