California Highway Patrol is investigating two apparently unrelated highway shootings reported Wednesday in Contra Costa County. In neither case was anyone hurt.
The first took place about 9:45 p.m. on North Interstate-680 near Treat Boulevard, Walnut Creek.
A driver’s car window broke, and he originally thought perhaps someone had thrown a bottle at his vehicle.
However, more than an hour later, the man found a bullet casing in his car, and called the Highway Patrol.
That agency received another call about 11:15 p.m. about another shooting on east California Highway 4 near California Highway 242. A CHP spokesperson said this appeared to be a case of road rage.
In this incident, two drivers exchanged words through open windows, then one shot at the other’s vehicle, according to information provided by CHP.
Agency investigators from the CHP Golden Gate Division are looking into the incidents, but so far, no suspects have been identified.
