Crisis Resiliency Workshop Today

A business preparedness crisis resiliency workshop will take place at noon today at the Shell Clubhouse, 1635 Pacheco Blvd. Admission is $20, including lunch.

Speakers at the workshop are Julie Clowes, of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Jay Lifson, of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and Mark Thorp, of the Paradise Chamber of Commerce.

The workshop is designed to help a business prepare for emergencies or large-scale disasters that can take a toll on owners, employees and profits.

The program is a collaboration of area cities, the Chambers of Commerce of Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Concord and Walnut Creek and the Contra Costa Small Business Development Center. It will provide resources that businesses and employees can use to rebound from emergencies.

Chamber Mixer today at McGuire Harley-Davidson

The next Martinez Chamber of Commerce Business Mixer will be at 5:30 p.m. today at McGuire Harley-Davidson, 93 First Ave. North, Pacheco.

Those interested are being asked to bring business cards and raffle prize donations.

Citizen of the Year Awards dinner Saturday

The Martinez Chamber of Commerce will announce its Citizen of the Year and other awards at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Martinez Masonic Lodge, 700 Masonic St.

Admission to the event is $55 per person or $500 for a table of 10.

The Citizen of the Year Awards recognizes people and organizations for outstanding volunteerism and commitment to the community.

Bay Area Craft Beer Festival April 20

The Bay Area Craft Beer Festival will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Martinez Waterfront Park, North Court St.

Advance tickets will be available online and are $40 for unlimited sampling of beer and $5 for designated drivers, who will be able to have free water and a reusable water bottle while supplies last.

Participants must be at least 21, and a photo identification will be required.

Live music will keep participants entertained. Simple Creation will be performing from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., and Foam Riders will play a set from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Food will be available for purchase.

No children, strollers, pets or outside alcohol, or outside glassware or containers will be allowed. Attendees may bring lawn chairs. Shuttles will run from North Concord-Martinez BART to the intersection of Marina Vista Avenue near Ferry Street.

Del Cielo Brewing Company is the glass sponsor for the mini Belgian tasters by Clearwater Gear for the event.

Annual Downtown Spring Cleanup May 4

Volunteers are being asked to meet in the downtown Martinez area May 4 to clean up the shopping district.

They’ll be power-washing the sidewalks, picking up trash, raking leaves and pulling weeds. In a reward for their effort, the volunteers will be treated to coffee, juice and doughnuts in the morning and a barbecue lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Children with a parent or guardian may participate.

Shifts may start as early at 6 a.m., although many will start at 9 a.m. Those interested in participating may email director@mainstreetmartinez.com.
