Martinez Police blotter for May 1-15, 2019

On May 1, 2019 at 1:29 pm, Officer Miller responded to a fight at Amtrak. A man was arrested for public intoxication. Case# 19-1235.

At 6:40 am, Sergeant Muncher took a vehicle burglary report from a resident in the 200 block of Sunnybrae Drive. The vehicle’s window was smashed and a nail gun was taken. Case# 19-1241.

At 1:00 pm, Sergeant Salamid investigated a suspicious vehicle in the 3300 block of Brookside Drive. The vehicle had been reported as stolen. The occupant was arrested. Case# 19-1245.

At 6:33 pm, Corporal Mayberry contacted a man yelling in Main Street Plaza. The man was arrested for a warrant. Case# 19-1248.

At 8:09 pm, Officer Parsons arrested a woman in the 3000 block of Howe Road for a warrant. Case# 19-1249.

At 10:18 pm, Officer Montano arrested a man in the Home Depot parking lot for possession of a controlled substance. Case# 19-1250.

At 11:00 pm, Corporal Mayberry arrested a man at Mt. View Park for a warrant. Case# 19-1252.

At 4:30 am, workers at a business in the 800 block of Arnold Drive interrupted a man and woman attempting to steal catalytic converters. The suspects fled on bicycles and were not located. Incident 1905030008.

At 5:08 am, Corporal Mayberry arrested a man on Martinez Avenue for multiple warrants. Case# 19-1254.

On May 3rd at 9:25 am, Sergeant Gaul responded to Copart, 2701 Waterfront Rd., for a stolen vehicle report. A 2012 Ford Fusion was stolen from the front lot. Case# 19-1258.

At 10:30 am, Officer Buda responded to the 800 block of Arnold Drive regarding a catalytic converter that was stolen from a vehicle overnight on 4/27-4/28. Case# 19- 1259.

At 5:00 pm, officers responded to Amtrak for an assault that occurred on the train involving three people. It occurred on the train east of Richmond. Amtrak had a 2-hour response. Report taken and forwarded to Amtrak PD. Officer Montano, case# 19-1263.

At 5:30 pm, officers responded to Alhambra Ave. at F St. for a traffic collision. One party was arrested for DUI and booked into the Main Detention Facility (MDF) by Officer Montano. Case# 19-1264.

At 6:55 pm, Corporal Mayberry contacted a man at Berrellesa Street near Allen Street. The man was arrested for warrants and booked into MDF. Case# 19-1265.

At about 5:00 am, Walnut Creek PD identified a suspect who had just arrived at county hospital and was wanted in connection with a stabbing earlier in the night. Martinez officers located the suspect vehicle parked in the apartments on Vista Oaks Drive. Walnut Creek officers responded to Martinez to conduct their investigation. MPD incident 1905040016.

At 12:00 pm, Sergeant Gaul was on foot patrol downtown. He contacted several people behind the Finance Building, 625 Court Street. He arrested two of them for possession of methamphetamine. Both of the men were cite released. Case# 19-1269.

At 5:15 pm, a citizen reported a reckless driver traveling northbound Alhambra Avenue at D Street and the driver was now following a Martinez Police car. Officer Wah allowed the vehicle to pass and initiated an enforcement stop. He contacted the 51-year-old woman from Benicia. She was arrested for DUI. Case# 19-1271.

On May 5th at 6:30 am, Officer Buda responded to Tierney Place from an elderly woman who passed away. Case# 19-1275.

At 7:16 pm, Sergeant Busciglio saw a man walk up to a citizen in the 1000 block of Alhambra Avenue. The citizen was doing yard work and the man approached the citizen unprovoked, yelled curse words and threaten to attack the citizen. The suspect was arrested and booked into MDF for disorderly conduct. Case# 19-1278.

At 9:43 pm, Sergeant Busciglio contacted a man at Amtrak. The man had a felony warrant for his arrest. A search incident to arrest revealed the man was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was booked into MDF. Case# 19-1279.

On May 6th at 1:21 am, Corporal Mayberry contacted a man out of San Rafael who was filming the refinery at Marina Vista and Shell Avenue. The man claimed it was part of a performance art piece he was working on. Case# 19-1280.

On May 6th at 9:45 am, Officer Miller was dispatched to a business located on Mococo Rd. regarding a theft of equipment. The reporting party advised someone had pried open several truck bed tool boxes and removed landscape equipment valued at over $1050.00. The victim vehicles were no longer in the area. Phone report taken. Case# 19-1284.

At 12:25 pm, Officers Miller and Voyvodich were dispatched to investigate a three vehicle traffic collision in the 1200 block of Escobar Street. Officers arrived and conducted a collision investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation one of the drivers was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Case# 19-1285.

At 5:06 pm, Officer Voyvodich was dispatched to Quality Inn, 3999 Alhambra Avenue, to investigate a theft from a hotel room. The victim reported while he was away at work, unknown suspects entered his hotel room and stole items. Case# 19-1286.

At 9:14 am, Officer Winslett responded to the lobby for a violation of a court order report via text. Case# 19-1293

At 11:35 am, officers responded to the area of 401 C Street to investigate a report of noise coming from the back of this location. A man wearing a black shirt and blue jeans was seen entering the back yard and later seen carrying blue bins. Acting Lieutenant Salamid located a man matching the description at the dead end of Wano Street. The man was located standing next to a stack of boxes with no address labels on them. The man was found to have a warrant for his arrest. The boxes he was next to contained medical equipment. They were determined to have been unreported stolen items from CCRMC. He was booked in to MDF for the warrant. The theft case will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review. Case# 19-1295

At 5:33 am, Officer Winslett responded to the 800 block of Allen Street for a 2013 Chevy Camaro that was stolen during the night. Case# 19-1300.

On May 8th at 3:51 pm, Officer Miller was dispatched to 895 Howe Rd. to investigate a vandalism to a vehicle. The victim reported someone threw paint on her vehicle. Video of the suspect was obtained. Loss approximately $800.00. Case# 19-1304.

On May 9th at 3:25 pm, Corporal Schnabel was alerted via his license plate reader (LPR) system of a stolen vehicle in the area of Muir Rd. and Pacheco. He conducted a high risk traffic stop of the car and detained a man. The vehicle had been reported as embezzled from a rental business. The 38-year-old man from Richmond was released from the scene per 849 PC. Investigation continuing. The vehicle was towed. Case# 19- 1312.

At 4:52 pm, Officer Lincoln responded to Nob Hill Foods, 520 Center Ave., for a report of a petty theft. Officer Lincoln arrived and detained a 28-year-old woman from Tennessee. The woman was identified by store staff and was highly intoxicated. She was booked into the Martinez Detention facility (MDF) for 488 Pc (Petty theft) and 647(f) PC (Public Intoxication). Case# 19-1313.

At 7:29 pm, Sergeant Busciglio contacted two men in the 300 block of Ferry Street. Both had outstanding warrants. They were arrested per the warrants. During a search, one man was found to be in possession of heroin. Both were booked into MDF. Case# 19- 1315.

On May 9th at 3:00 pm, officers responded to the intersection of Alhambra Avenue and Jones Street for a roll over traffic collision. A Jeep was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound Alhambra Avenue and was hit broad side by a Dodge Ram traveling west from Jones Street. The collision caused the Jeep to roll over. The driver of the Dodge Ram collided with a tree and into the garage of a home in the 400 block of Jones. Significant damage to the house and minor damage to the vehicle parked in the garage. Officer Wah, case# 19-1319.

On May 10th at 4:00 pm, officers were dispatched to Amtrak for the report of a subject masturbating. Corporal Baillie located the suspect several blocks away. He was identified as a 24-year-old man from Merced. The indecent exposure allegation was unfounded, but he was arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia. Cite released. Case# 19-1320.

At 9:45 pm, officers responded to a report of an accident at 1703 Center Avenue. A 25- year-old man from Pleasant Hill drove his vehicle westbound on Center and struck a parked car at what appeared to be at high speed. Both vehicles sustained major damage. The man was arrested for driving under the influence. He was booked at the station then released to a sober adult. Officer Montano case# 19-1322.

At 10:26 pm, officers responded to St. Nazaire Court for a large party. While officers were there a crash was heard down the street. A vehicle struck a parked vehicle then fled the area. A hit and run investigation is being conducted by Sergeant Muncher, case# 19-1323.

On May 11th at 5:01 am, Officer Montano stopped a vehicle on Morello Ave. and Pettit Lane. Two men were arrested and booked into MDF for warrants. Case# 19-1325.

At 8:00 am, Officer Buda responded to the 1400 block of Ashwood Dr. for a stolen motorcycle report. The 2006 Yamaha R6 motorcycle was stolen between 11:00 pm the prior night and 7:30 am. Case# 19-1326. (The motorcycle was equipped with LoJack. Just prior to the end of shift, Livermore PD located the motorcycle as it was being stripped by the suspect.)

At 1:02 pm, Sergeant Gaul was on foot patrol downtown. He contacted a 46-year-old man from Martinez. The man was drinking, cursing and found to be intoxicated. He was booked into MDF. Case# 19-1329.

At 1:20 pm, Corporal Baillie’s LPR in his vehicle captured a stolen 2019 Dodge Durango in the 500 block of Escobar. The vehicle was occupied by a 23-year-old woman from Vallejo. She was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and released from the PD. Case# 19-1330.

At 4:50 pm, officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot of 600 J Street. One of the subjects contacted was a 32-year-old woman from Pleasant Hill. She was arrested for possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. She was cite released. Officer Wah, case# 19-1334.

At 6:48 pm, Corporal Mayberry responded to Via Cabrera Ln. to investigate a residential burglary. Sometime between 8:45 am and 6:15 pm, items were stolen from the residence and there were no signs of forced entry. Case# 19-1335.

At 11:21 pm, Officer Parsons contacted a 51-year-old man from Martinez in the 800 block of Arnold Drive. The man was arrested and cite released for possession of a controlled substance. Case# 19-1336

On May 12th at 10:00 am, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Ward Street for a subject passed out. They contacted a 66-year-old man from Martinez. He was arrested for public intoxication and booked MDF. Officer Wah, case# 19-1339

At 11:11 pm, officers responded to the Canton restaurant (719 Main St.) for a report of a suspect inside the owner’s vehicle. A 30-year-old man from Bay Point was located around the corner, determined to have burglarized the vehicle and also battered the owner. The man was booked into MDF. Corporal Mayberry, case# 19-1342.

On May 13th at 1:58 am, Officer Montano contacted a man near 817 Arnold Drive. The 31-year-old man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was cite released at the scene. Case# 19-1343.

On May 15th at 4:32 pm, Officer Winslett was dispatched to Lucky’s located at 1045 Arnold Dr. to investigate an auto burglary. Officer Winslett determined there was no loss. This was an attempted burglary as the unknown suspect attempted to enter the trunk via inside handle. Case# 19-1367

At 4:49 pm, officers were dispatched to Escobar St. at Court St. for two males fighting. The victim did not want prosecution. Case# 19-1368
