Martinez Police Blotter for Oct. 16-31

On October 16th at 3:36 am, Officer Espinoza responded to an alarm at Martinez Animal Hospital. Upon arrival he noticed a broken window and unsecured door; no one was inside. The owner responded and determined there was no loss. Case #19-2795.

At 3:39 pm, Officer Weems and Corporal Schnabel were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of Lyle Court for a missing juvenile. An extensive search began of the Hidden Lakes area. After an initial search of the park and local streets within a three-mile radius, the police department requested the assistance of the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Search and Rescue unit. A Contra Costa Sheriff’s helicopter and K9 unit were initially deployed. Martinez CERT was also activated and15 volunteers were sent for the initial search. Social media posts (FB, Twitter, Nixle and Nextdoor) were sent out to the community. At 5:45 pm, after seeing a social media release, police dispatch received a call from a resident telling us the juvenile was at her home playing. The missing juvenile was then brought home and reunited with his parents. Case #19-2805.

At 6:42 pm, Officer Parsons took a stolen vehicle report at Walmart. Case #19-2808.

At 7:30 am, Corporal Mayberry arrested a male on Escobar Street, near Ferry Street, for multiple warrants. Case #19-2809.

At 9:45 am, Corporal Mayberry attempted to stop a motorized scooter in the 800 block of Howe Road. Corporal Mayberry recognized the male rider, who had a warrant for his arrest. The male fled on the scooter and then on foot. The male was ultimately detained by citizens and he was arrested for the warrant, resisting/obstructing a police officer and violating probation. Case #19-2810.

At 10:30 am, Officer Buda responded to Walmart for the theft of an electric bicycle. The victim locked the bicycle outside the store before going shopping. Upon return the bicycle was gone. Case #19-2811.

At 11:00 am, Officer Wah took a vehicle burglary report from a resident in the 2200 block of Lake Villa Court. Miscellaneous property was taken from the vehicle. Case #19-2812.

At 5:00 pm, Corporal Mayberry arrested a female at Amtrak for assault with a deadly weapon. The female had been chasing another female with a screwdriver, threatening to stab her. Case #19-2815.

On October 18, 2019 at 5:30 am, a search warrant was conducted in the 2300 block of Wayne Street. A 27-year-old man from Martinez was arrested for possession of meth and cite released. A 32-year-old woman from Martinez was arrested for a misdemeanor $5,000.00 warrant for possession of drugs and booked into MDF. A 34-year-old man from Martinez was arrested for drug intoxication and booked into MDF, and a 50-year-old woman from Martinez was arrested for drug intoxication and booked into MDF. Case# 19- 2818.

At 8:00 am, Officer Wah responded to an auto burglary in the 400 block of Appalachian Way. It occurred sometime last night. Unknown point of entry. Loss was stereo, speakers and cash. Case# 19-2820.

At 10:00 am, Sergeant Gaul contacted several subjects in the 3800 block of Vista Oaks Drive. One of the subjects was a 24-year-old man from Martinez. The man was arrested for a felony $27,500.00 warrant for bringing a drug into a jail and simple possession. Booked MDF. Case# 19-2822

At 3:15 pm, officers responded to the 700 block of Alhambra Ave. for two tenants fighting over beer. One tenant stole a 12 pack of Budweiser. The suspect was identified and was arrested for theft and cite released from the PD. 10 of the 12 warm beers were returned to the victim. Corporal Mayberry. Case# 19-2826.

At 7:03 pm, Officer Parsons received a license plate reader notification of a vehicle E/B Hwy 4 from Hercules. The vehicle had a stolen license plate on it. He located the vehicle E/B Hwy 4 at Alhambra Ave. and followed it. He deployed Starchase and effected a high risk stop on Hwy 4 east of Port Chicago Hwy. Three occupants were detained. The driver (31-years-old from San Pablo) claimed he got the car from a friend about two weeks ago and then another friend gave him the license plates to put on it. Both plates were reported as stolen. The vehicle was clear but had expired registration. The man was arrested for a warrant and possession of controlled substances. He was booked into county jail. Officer Montano stopped a vehicle on Morello Ave. near Hwy 4 and arrested the driver (55-year-old man from Live Oak) for driving on a suspended license for DUI. He was cite released from the scene. Case# 19-2829.

On October 19th at 6:10 am, officers responded to the 900 block of Andrews Dr. for an unknown subject in the caller’s yard. Officers contacted a 24-year-old transient. He gave officers the wrong name, but Corporal Mayberry knew his real name and knew he was on probation. He was arrested for obstruction and violating probation. Booked MDF. Officer Lucido, case# 19-2830.

At 7:15 am, Officer Wah located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the 200 block of Likins Avenue. The 1995 Honda Accord was reported stolen to Pittsburg PD on October 17th. Case# 19-2831.

At 9:00 am, Officer Ramos responded to the 6800 block of Waverly for a stolen vehicle report. The 1999 Acura Integra was stolen this morning between 1:30 am and 8:30 am. Case# 19-2832.

At 11:45 am, Sergeant Gaul stopped a vehicle on Pacheco Blvd. at 680. He contacted a 57-year-old man from Concord. The man was arrested for a misdemeanor $25,000.00 warrant for drug possession. Booked MDF. Case# 19-2833.

At 1:00 pm, Officer Lucido stopped a vehicle in the 3500 block of Pacheco Blvd. He contacted a 25-year-old man from Martinez. The man was arrested for drug intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating probation. Booked MDF. Case# 19-2835.

At 3:15 pm, Corporal Mayberry observed a 28-year-old man from Martinez, walking in the 3400 block of Alhambra Avenue. Corporal Mayberry had prior knowledge the man was wanted for two outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants. $15,000.00 for tampering with

a vehicle and a $10,000.00 warrant for drug intoxication. Booked MDF. Case# 19-2836.

At 4:30 pm, Officer Angoco located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Ace Truck Box, 3550 Pacheco Blvd. The 2018 Cadi Escalade was reported stolen to Lafayette PD on October 17th. Case# 19-2837.

At 7:55 pm, Officer Montano stopped a vehicle at 530 Morello Avenue. A 34-year-old man from Concord was arrested and cite released for driving with a suspended license for DUI. Case# 19-2838.

At 8:47 pm, officers responded to the area of Alhambra Hills Dr. at Mt. Kennedy Dr. for a report of a suspicious person on the corner. The subject was not located and during the area check, Officer Angoco received a license plate reader hit on a vehicle parked on Mt. Hood Court. The vehicle was unoccupied. It was a 94 Honda that was stolen out of Concord yesterday. The owner responded and took possession of the vehicle. Case# 19- 2839.

At 0236 hours, Officer Parsons stopped a vehicle on Court Street near Main Street. A 66- year-old man from Concord was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant and booked into county jail. Case# 19-2841.

On October 20th at 2:44 am, Sergeant Busciglio located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the 5600 block of Likins Ave. It was a 95 Honda Civic that was stolen out of Pleasant Hill yesterday. The owner was not available so the vehicle was towed. Case# 19-2842.

At 8:30 am, the LPR on SR4 at Sycamore captured a vehicle with stolen plates. Corporal Mayberry located the vehicle at SR4 and 680. The vehicle was stopped without incident. The vehicle was not reported stolen. The driver, a 39-year-old from Richmond, was arrested for a felony $10,000.00 warrant for fraud and driving with a suspended license for DUI. Cite released. Case# 19-2843.

At 2:30 pm, officers were dispatched to Amtrak for a female yelling at the occupants of a vehicle and hitting the vehicle with her hands. She was identified as a 44-year-old from Lodi. She was arrested for trespassing only. She had caused a disturbance at Amtrak this morning and noticed not to return. Booked MDF. Corporal Mayberry, case# 19-2845

At 8:13 pm, Officer Montano contacted a man on Pacheco Blvd. near Morello Avenue. She knew the man was on active probation with a search clause. A search was conducted and he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was cite released from the scene. Case# 19-2850.

At 2:12 am, Officer Parsons saw a suspicious vehicle on Diablo Way. When the driver of the vehicle noticed the officer, he attempted to drive away at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped on E/B Hwy 4 near the Pacheco off ramp. The man was the driver and only occupant. He was not licensed to drive and a search revealed a freshly cut catalytic converter. There was a reciprocating saw also located which was believed to have been used to cut the converter from a vehicle. The converter belonged to a Toyota. The man was arrested and the vehicle was towed. The man admitted to cutting the converter off a vehicle in Pittsburg. He also admitted that he was in Martinez driving around looking for other vehicles to steal converters from. He was cite released from the station and the investigation is continuing with Pittsburg PD to locate a victim. Case# 19- 2852.

At 3:32 am, Officer Montano stopped a man on Contra Costa Blvd. near Chilpancingo Pkwy. The man was on probation and a search revealed controlled substances. He was cite released from the scene. Case# 19-2853.

At 8:21 am, Officer Weems took a theft report of two catalytic converters from county vehicles parked at child family services. Case #19-2854.

At 10:02 am, Officer Miller took a theft report of petty cash at NorCal Courts. The loss was approximately $340. Case #19-2856.

On October 22nd at 12:34 am, CHP pursued a vehicle into the city. The vehicle was occupied by three males. The males fled from the vehicle at the John Muir House. One of the males discarded a firearm and was hiding in some bushes. He refused to comply with commands and was apprehended with the assistance of K9 Brut. The firearm was recovered nearby. A second male was apprehended on Florence Drive. The third male was not located. Case #19-2865.

At 8:01 am, Officer Weems responded to the 500 block of Brackman Lane for a suspicious vehicle in the roadway. He contacted and arrested the male occupant for possession of user paraphernalia. Case #19-2868.

At 8:48 am, Officer Weems arrested a male for public intoxication near Marina Vista Park. Case #19-2869.

At 8:57 am, Officer Miller responded to Marina Market for a female who stole soda and coffee. When Officer Miller attempted to contact the female she fled. The female was located and arrested for theft and resisting an officer. Case #19-2870.

At 10:25 am, Officer Miller responded to NorCal Courts for a burglary. An unknown person made entry into the business and pried open the safe; taking cash. The investigation is continuing. Case 19-2872.

At 6:57 pm, Officer Voyvodich arrested a female for violating a court order between the neighbor and her. Case #19-2875.

At 9:21 am, Lieutenant Estanol responded to a collision in the 500 block of Glacier Drive. Case #19-2876.

At 2:29 pm, Officer Lincoln arrested a male for public intoxication at Golden Hills Park. Prior to the arrest the male had entered a resident’s garage and took a beer out of the refrigerator. Case #19-2882.

On October 23rd at 10:31 am, Officer Winslett took an identity theft report from a resident in the 900 block of Center Avenue. Case #19-2891.

At 12:00 pm, Officer Lincoln took a burglary report from a resident in the 1400 block of Center Avenue, where a POD storage unit was broken in to. Case #19-2893.

On October 24th at 2:13 am, Officer Lincoln responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 100 block of Morello Heights Drive. A male was arrested for public intoxication. Case

#19-2894.

At 10:27 pm, Officer Breinig responded to Ray’s Lounge for a vandalism, where the victim believed a man punctured her tire. The man was contacted and the vandalism was unfounded. Approximately two hours later Officer Breinig responded back to Ray’s Lounge for a stabbing. The investigation is continuing. Case #19-2897.

On October 25, 2019 at 7:45 am, Officer Lucido located the suspect vehicle associated with graveyard’s assault with a deadly weapon. He located the vehicle on Veterans Ct. at Center Ave. He contacted the suspect, who was inside. Other officers arrived on scene and the suspect was arrested without incident. Booked MDF. Case# 19-2897.

At 9:00 pm, Officer Montano responded to Walmart for a suspect being held for shoplifting. The suspect was a 32-year-old woman from Martinez, and a search of her belongs revealed controlled substances and paraphernalia. She was cite released from the scene, case# 19-2905.

At 10:19 pm, Officer Parsons stopped a vehicle on Pacheco Blvd. near Arthur Road. A 36-year-old man from Martinez was one of the occupants, and he had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He was booked into MDF, case# 19-2906.

On October 26th at 1:43 am, officers responded to Main St. at Grandview Av. for a vehicle collision. A silver BMW sedan collided head on with a parked Honda Civic. The unknown driver of the BMW fled the area prior to officer arrivals. Investigation continuing. Officer Espinoza case# 19-2908.

At 8:00 am, Corporal Mayberry conducted a security check of 3545 Alhambra Ave, which is a vacant residence. Corporal Mayberry has been dispatched to this address numerous times the past month for a man sleeping on the roof. The owner wanted the man to be arrested if he continued to trespass on the property. Corporal Mayberry discovered the suspect on the property this morning and placed him under arrest. Booked into MDF. Case# 19-2909.

At 10:45 am, Corporal Mayberry located an unoccupied stolen vehicle at the intersection of Orchard and Potter. The 1999 Honda Civic was reported stolen to Pleasant Hill PD on October 21st. Case# 19-2910.

At 11:00 am, a citizen on viewed a man smash the window of a Tesla parked in the parking lot at the Nob Hill Starbucks. The suspect fled in a silver Ford SUV and officers were unable to locate him. Loss was an iPad and clothing. Officer Wah, case# 19-2911.

At 1:30 pm, a gas truck was filling up generators for county buildings in the 600 block of Pine St. and one of them was overfilled. Two drains had minimal contamination. ConFire and County HazMat responded to handle the spill. HazMat made all notifications. Corporal Mayberry, case# 19-2913.

At 4:30 pm, Sergeant Gaul was on foot patrol. He observed a 53-year-old man from Martinez walk from the backyard of the vacant home at 614 Green Street. A parole search revealed possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. Several camps located in the back yard. Management company advised of squatters. Cite released. Case# 19-2914

At 10:24 pm, officers responded to 707 Marina Vista to investigate a report of a female screaming. Upon arrival, officers contacted numerous intoxicated residents. A 51-year- old man form Red Bluff confronted officers outside the front door and tried to punch Officer Angoco. A struggle ensued and the suspect was taken into custody. He was arrested for resisting officers, being drunk in public and violating his probation terms. He was booked into county jail. Officer Angoco, Officer Espinoza and Detective Leong, case# 19-2916.

On October 27th at 3:30 am, officers responded to 3517 Alhambra Av. for a report that a man was on the property causing a disturbance. The man was arrested earlier on day shift for a trespassing violation and booked into county jail. He was located next door inside the vacant residence that he was trespassing on earlier. He was arrested and booked into MDF for the MMC trespassing violation. Cpl. Mayberry case# 19-2917.

At 7:00 am, Officer Wah responded to the 2500 block of Holly View Court. There was a theft from a vehicle that was left unlocked and a lap top and briefcase was stolen. It occurred sometime overnight. Officer Wah, case# 19-2918.

At 10:15 am, a 30+ foot tree fell in the 700 block of Main Street. It was in the area of the Plaza. The Farmer’s Market and Street Market was open and people were hit by the tree. The Corp Yard removed the fallen trees as well as several other trees on Main Street as a precaution. Corporal Mayberry, case# 19-2920.

At 12:00 pm, officers responded to 3517 Alhambra Ave. for a man trespassing on the property. The man has been arrested twice in less than 24 hours for trespassing on the adjacent property. Today, the victim said the man battered her causing her to lose consciousness. The man has repeatedly trespassed on the victim’s property, left threatening notes and even followed her to Target in Pleasant Hill yesterday. The man fled prior to officers arriving. However, Corporal Mayberry located him an hour later near Alhambra High. He was arrested for felony battery and stalking. Booked MDF. Case# 19- 2921.

At 3:20 pm, officers were dispatched to Arnold Dr. and Morello Ave. for the report of people using drugs in a vehicle. One of the people contacted was a 32-year-old man from Turlock. He was arrested for possession of meth, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Cite released. Officer Wah, case# 19-2925.

At 3:50 pm, a grass fire was reported on Alhambra Ave. at Forest Way. Surrounding streets were evacuated but residents were allowed to return home an hour later. An estimated 50 acres were burned, no buildings damaged nor any injuries reported. Alhambra Ave. from John Muir Rd. to Macalvey was closed. Roadway was reopened at 6:55 pm. Inc#1910270075.

At 9:12 pm, Officer Montano was dispatched to the area of Calaveras Ct. for a tree into a house. The caller stated a tree from his property had fallen and had hit a house located behind his property. Officer Montano located the house on Sonora Court. No one was home and there appeared to only be minor damage to the house. Dispatch was able to notify the owner via telephone. Inc # 1910270104

At 9:52 pm, Officer Voyvodich received an LPR stolen vehicle alert in the 3500 block of Pacheco Boulevard. He located the vehicle and arrested the female who got out of the vehicle to go into a store. Case #19-2932.

On October 29th at 3:07 pm, Officer Weems responded to Buon Aroma Deli for a robbery. The female suspect stole food items and then punched the victim as he attempted to contact her before exiting. The suspect fled on foot and was not located. Then victim was uninjured from the punch. Case #19-2938.

At 9:17 pm, Officer Voyvodich received an LPR hit on a stolen vehicle travelling eastbound Hwy 4. He located the vehicle near the Morello Avenue exit. Officer Voyvodich attempted a traffic enforcement stop, but the vehicle failed to yield. A brief pursuit ensued before it was terminated by the watch commander. The sheriff’s department was monitoring the activity, and with air support, they located the vehicle and followed it into Oakland, where it was involved in a collision. The driver fled on foot, but was located and arrested. Case #19-2924.

On October 30th at 8:21 am, Officer Weems responded to Alhambra Avenue at F Street for a collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians. Case #19-2944.

At 9:07 am, Officer Weems assisted ConFire with a fire investigation on the railroad tracks west of the Amtrak station. Case #19-2943.

At 12:56 pm, Officer Miller responded to an injury traffic collision between two vehicles at Alhambra Avenue and H Street. Case #19-2945.

On October 31st at 6:40 am, Sergeant Gaul took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 300 block of Orchard View Avenue. Case #19-2949.

At 9:50 am, Officer Wah took a theft report of a laptop. The laptop was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the Safeway (downtown) parking lot. Case #19-2950.

At 10:38 pm, Sergeant Moore investigated a hit and run into a garage door at a residence in the 1300 block of Hull Lane. Case #19-2957.
