Martinez Police Blotter for Sept. 16-30, 2018

On September 16th at 3:30 pm, a 25-year-old man from Walnut Creek called dispatch to report he “knocked a guy out” in the bathroom at Hidden Lakes Park. The suspect was arrested for battery. The suspect in this case had been a victim with the same person several months ago during an altercation in San Francisco. The suspect for this incident was booked into the Main Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 18-2206.

At 9:08 pm Corporal Schnabel made a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Arnold Drive. The male driver was on felony probation with a search clause. A search was conducted and the male subject was arrested for possession of tear gas. Case# 18-2212.

On September 18th at 5:27 pm, Officer Voyvodich was on patrol when he noticed a subject he knows from prior police contact, driving a vehicle with no license plates. The man parked the vehicle and walked away. Officer Voyvodich ran the VIN # of the car and found it had been reported stolen. A search of the immediate area was conducted and the man was located and arrested for 496 PC (Possession of Stolen Property). He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case # 18-2215.

On September 19th at 10:28 am, Detective Lekse responded to Court Street and Escobar Street for a report of a stolen car. The victim’s 2016 Toyota was taken during the early morning. Case# 18-2216.

At 3:27 pm Officer Carney responded to Home Depot for a report of theft by an employee. The investigation revealed that the suspect embezzled over $1,000 from the store. The suspect was arrested. Case# 18-2219.

At 9:59 pm Officer Breinig conducted a traffic stop at Pacheco Boulevard and Howe Road. During the contact he conducted a consent search of the vehicle resulting in the discovery of several passports, credit cards, and mail that did not belong to the driver. The driver was arrested for identity theft and booked into MDF. Case# 18-2221.

At 11:08 pm Detective Wah responded to a car fire at Susana Street and Pine Street. During the contact with the registered owner, an outstanding felony arrest warrant was discovered for the owner, resulting in an arrest. He was booked into MDF. Case# 18- 2222.

On September 20th at 11:00 am, Officer Lincoln stopped a vehicle on 680 at Marina Vista. He arrested the driver, a 36-year-old man from Martinez, for driving a vehicle with a suspended license for DUI. He arrested the passenger, a 26-year-old man from San Pablo, for a $5,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for theft and drug possession. Both were cite released from the scene. Case# 18-2226.

At 4:30 pm officers were dispatched to Safeway (3334 Alhambra Avenue) for a physical fight between two men. Corporal Baillie arrested one of the men, a 34-year-old from Martinez, for battery, possession of stolen property and violating probation. The man was booked into MDF. Case# 18-2229.

September 21st at 8:45 am, Officer Lincoln observed a man walking on Bryce Drive at Olympic Drive. He had prior knowledge the man was wanted for a felony $80,000.00 warrant for evading. The man was arrested and booked into MDF. Case# 18-2235.

On September 22nd at 5:30 am, officers responded to the 3400 block of Sentinel Drive for a fire in the home. The residents evacuated prior to PD and Confire arrival. At the time of this report, the cause was unknown.

At 2:30 pm, a 58-year-old man from Martinez arrived at the police department to have a vehicle released. It was revealed he was wanted for a $10,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for theft charges. He was arrested and booked into MDF by Officer Carney. Case# 18- 2239.

At 4:30 pm, Officer Carney contacted a 70-year-old man from Martinez at Safeway Virginia Hills. The man was arrested for a $15,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for a DUI. He was arrested and booked into MDF. Case# 18-2241.

At 11:56 pm a vehicle was traveling north in the 3900 block of Alhambra Avenue when it hit the rear of another vehicle. One of the vehicles lost control and left the roadway into the sign at the Muir Lodge. Officer Montano took case# 18-2242.

On September 23rd at 1:29 am, officers contacted a man on the grounds of the Senior Center for a call of a person in the area moaning. The man had a cite releasable warrant for his arrest and when notified of the warrant, attempted to flee. He was quickly stopped by Officer Breinig and detained. He was booked into MDF for the warrant and resisting officers.

At 7:00 am a burglary was reported at Jamba Juice. The front door had been forced open. The business was ransacked and the suspects attempted to remove the safe. Security cameras captured the burglary at 4:00 am. The two suspects were wearing masks and gloves. Officer Buda took case# 18-2245.

On September 24th at 1:11 pm, Detective Wah contacted an intoxicated female in the parking lot of Chase Bank (4201 Alhambra Avenue). The female was transported. Case# 18-2252.

At 7:25 pm Officer Carney responded to the 500 block of Center Avenue for a theft in progress. Two male subjects attempted to remove a catalytic converter from a van before leaving the area in a silver Toyota Camry. Officer Carney arrived on scene and discovered the subjects cut the exhaust, but did not get the catalytic converter. Case# 18-2257.

On September 26th a 6:52 am, Officer Voyvodich responded to a collision on Alhambra Avenue at C Street. Case# 18-2267.

At 8:49 am Officer Carney took a report from a resident who lost just under $10,000 in a scam by an unknown suspect in Florida. The investigation is continuing. Case# 18-2270.

At 1:27 pm Officer Voyvodich arrested a female subject near the bocce ball courts for an outstanding warrant. Case# 18-2272.

At 2:34 pm Officer Voyvodich arrested a female subject in the 400 block of Richardson Street for a warrant. Case# 18-2275.

At 10:16 pm Officer Lincoln located an occupied stolen vehicle on Alhambra Avenue, via a license plate reader (LPR). The female driver was detained and the registered owner was contacted. The registered owner declined to press charges, stating the taking of the vehicle was a civil disagreement. Case# 18- 2278.

At 7:45 am Officer Voyvodich took an auto burglary report from a resident in the 3800 block of Vista Oaks Drive. The victim’s credit card was used at Metro PCS and Burger King. Case# 18-2281.

At 7:59 am Detective Lekse took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 700 block of Shell Avenue, which occurred sometime during the evening hours. Case# 18-2282.

At 10:31 am Officer Carney responded to a non-injury collision at the intersection of Morello Avenue and HWY 4. Case# 18-2283.

At 11:43 am Sergeant Busciglio arrested a male subject in the 400 block of Ferry Street for a warrant and possession of a controlled substance. Case# 18-2284.

On September 28th Officer Voyvodich responded to the 1700 block of Alhambra Avenue for a stolen vehicle report. The 1998 Toyota Camry was stolen between 3:00 pm yesterday and 9:00 am this morning. The vehicle was later recovered in San Pablo. Case# 18-2289.

At 12:00 pm Officer Voyvodich contacted a 38-year-old man from Martinez in the 100 block of Muir Road. The man was arrested for a $5,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for drug intoxication. He was booked into MDF. Case# 18-2290.

At 1:00 pm Officer Buda responded to an auto burglary at IHop. It occurred between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The vehicle’s window was smashed. A camera, laptop, and miscellaneous clothing were taken. Case# 18-2291.

At 2:00 pm a grass fire was reported in between SR4 and the 700 and 900 block of Arnold Drive. Arnold Drive was closed from Howe Road to Old Orchard for approximately one hour.

On September 29th at 8:30 am, Officer Lincoln responded to 3979 Alhambra Avenue for a stolen vehicle report. The 1993 Honda Accord was stolen between 7:30 pm last night and 8:30 am this morning. Case# 18-2297.

Officer Leong responded to 425 C Street for a stolen motorcycle. The 2016 Zshen motorcycle was stolen between 9:30 pm last night and 9:00 am this morning. It was recovered unoccupied several hours later near the Teamsters hall. Case# 18-2298.

At 2:00 pm Sergeant Gaul stopped a vehicle in the 2400 block of Olive Street. He contacted a 34-year-old female from Martinez, and she was arrested for possession of meth. She was cite released. Case# 18-2299.

At 4:00 pm Sergeant Gaul contacted a 23-year-old man in the 1100 block of Ferry Street. He was arrested for a $7,500.00 misdemeanor warrant for traffic violations and cite released. Case# 18-2300.

On September 29th at 1:33 am, Officer Montano was on patrol and contacted a 32-year- old man from Concord in the 5000 block of Pacheco Boulevard. The man was in possession of approximately 1 gram of Methamphetamine. Officer Montano arrested him for 11377(a) H&S (Possession of Controlled Substance) and he was cite released. Case # 18-2302.

At 9:04 pm Corporal Mayberry contacted a 32-year-old man from Martinez in the rear of the Lucky’s Shopping Center (1135 Arnold Drive). The man was in possession of Xanax pills and drug paraphernalia. Corporal Mayberry arrested the man for 11364 H&S (Possession of Controlled Substance) and 4060 B&S (Possession of Controlled Substance without a Prescription). The man was cited and released. Case# 18-2306.

On September 30th at 11:22 pm, Corporal Mayberry conducted a traffic stop in the area of Muir Road and Center Avenue. He contacted a 25-year-old man from Martinez. The man is on active probation and was in possession of .5 grams of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Corporal Mayberry arrested the man for 11377(a) H&S (Possession of a Controlled Substance) and 11364 H&S (Controlled Substance Paraphernalia). The man was cited and released. Case# 18-2307.
