Martinez Police blotter for May 16-31, 2019

On May 16th at 6:27 am, officers responded to 1836 Alhambra Ave. (Vintage Market) for a report of a man breaking down the fence leading to the rear of the building. Officers contacted the 24-year-old resident of Antioch and arrested him for felony vandalism. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case # 19-1371 by Officer Wah.

On May 17th at 2:15 am, Corporal Mayberry made contact with the occupants of a suspicious car in the 3800 block of Vista Oaks Drive. He contacted two men, who both had outstanding warrants for their arrest. They were arrested and booked into MDF. Case# 19-1376.

At 1:00 pm, a large tree in the 800 block of Castro Street fell onto power lines and onto an unoccupied parked vehicle. Two power poles then collapsed and fell onto two additional unoccupied vehicles. Roads and electrical services in the immediate area were down.

At 3:00 pm, Officer Buda stopped a vehicle on Alhambra Ave. at Hwy 4. He contacted a 39-year-old man from Bay Point. The man was arrested for a $10,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for forgery and booked into MDF. Case# 19-1378.

On May 18th at 11:26 pm, Corporal Mayberry was on patrol and contacted a 38-year-old man from Martinez on Alhambra Ave. near Marina Vista. The man had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest and was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF). Case# 19-1381.

At 11:40 pm, officers responded to 6688 Alhambra Ave. (Safeway) for a report of a possible shoplifter. Officers arrived and contacted a 28-year-old man from Pittsburg who was on probation and was in possession of 9.7 grams of methamphetamine and 2.5 grams of heroin. He was arrested for 11377(a) H&S and 11350H&S and cite released. Case# 19-1382 by Officer Montano

On May 19th aAt 4:20 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Ferry St. and Main St. for a man drinking alcohol and who was possibly intoxicated. Officer Wah contacted the 46-year-old man from Martinez. The man was arrested for public intoxication and booked into MDF. Case# 19-1383.

At 8:41 pm, Officer Montano located an occupied stolen vehicle at the 7-11 on Alhambra Ave. after receiving a license plate reader (LPR) alert. Officers took the suspect, a resident of Hercules, into custody without incident. The man was booked into MDF. Case# 19- 1384 by Officer Montano.

On May 20th at 12:11 am, Corporal Mayberry conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 4 at Morello Avenue. Corporal Mayberry towed the vehicle, as the driver of the vehicle was unlicensed. The 30-year-old woman from Bay Point was cited and the vehicle was towed for 22651P CVC. Case# 19-1385.

At 7:56 am, Officer Voyvodich took a stolen trailer report from a business in the 800 block of Howe Road. Case# 19-1387.

At 7:10 pm, Officer Lincoln conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 4 at Pine Street. The female driver was arrested for a warrant. Case# 19-1391.

At 7:15 pm, officers received an LPR stolen vehicle hit. Officer Montano located the car occupied at Jack in the Box. The male drive was arrested. Case# 19-1392.

On May 21st at 7:41 am, Dispatch Supervisor London took a phone report of a laptop stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of Riverwood Drive. Case# 19-1393.

At 3:59 pm, Officer Winslett arrested a man in the 300 block of Oakwood Circle for public intoxication. It was reported that the man backed his vehicle into a neighbor’s vehicle. Case# 19-1395.

At 7:15 pm, Officer Breinig arrested a man for a warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Jones Street. Case# 19-1396.

At 10:11 pm, Officer Lincoln arrested a man for a drug related DUI hit-n-run of a fire hydrant in the 3700 block of Canyon Way. Case# 19-1398.

On May 22nd at 2:21 am, Officer Espinoza initiated stolen vehicle pursuit on EB Hwy 4, via an LPR alert. The pursuit travelled eastbound HWY 4 into Antioch and was taken over by CHP, with Officer Lincoln and his K9 partner, Jago, still involved. The pursuit travelled back to Pleasant Hill where the suspect vehicle came to rest after a collision off of Contra Costa Boulevard. The male suspect fled on foot, but was soon apprehended. Case #19- 1400.

At 6:08 am, Officer Winslett contacted a woman standing on the tracks at the Amtrak Station. She was arrested for drug intoxication. Case# 19-1401.

At 9:20 am, Officer Buda contacted a man at Lucky’s on Arnold Drive. The man was arrested for a warrant and possession of heroin. Case# 19-1402.

At 12:10 pm, Officer Winslett arrested a man at Loaves and Fishes for public intoxication. Case# 19-1405.

On May 23rd at 9:27 am, Corporal Baillie arrested a woman in the 400 block of Gilger Avenue for public intoxication. Case# 19-1411.

At 1:05 pm, Officer Voyvodich arrested a man in the 3800 block of Vista Oaks Drive for a warrant. Case# 19-1419.

At 1:45 pm, Corporal Schnabel contacted the victim of a robbery in the area of Arnold Drive and Morello Avenue. The victim stated an unknown suspect took her cell phone and then fled in a silver vehicle. Case# 19-1420.

At 2:02 pm, Officer Voyvodich arrested a man in the 500 block of Palm Avenue for a warrant. Case# 19-1421.

At 2:51 pm, Corporal Baillie contacted a man panhandling at the corner of John Muir Road and Alhambra Avenue. He was arrested for a warrant. Case# 19-1422.

On May 24th at 5:15 pm, Corporal Baillie contacted a woman who said she was jogging on Arnold Drive near Old Orchard Road when she was grabbed around her waist by an unknown man. The woman pulled away and the unknown man stated he thought the woman was his girlfriend. He then fled the area on foot. Case# 19-1436.

On May 25th at 1:28 am, Sergeant Busciglio contacted a man trying to break into a locked recycle dumpster in the 600 block of Castro Street. The subject attempted to flee on a bicycle, but was unsuccessful, at which time he fled on foot. The man was located hiding in the brush near the creek. He provided a false name and was arrested for false impersonation, resisting a peace officer and theft. Case# 19-1439.

At 4:11 am, 7-Eleven (Morello Ave.) reported a robbery. The male suspect stole candy and struck the clerk when confronted. The suspect fled the area. Officer Montano located a man matching the description of the suspect on Pacheco Boulevard, near South Buchanan Circle. The man attempted to flee, but was detained. He was not identified as the suspect in the robbery. However, he was arrested for a parole warrant. Case# 19- 1440.

On May 26th at 2:20 am, Corporal Mayberry attempted to stop a U-Haul van for vehicle code violations as it entered HWY 4 from Alhambra Avenue. The vehicle did not yield and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit was terminated in Pittsburg, near the Bailey Road exit, where Corporal Mayberry lost sight of the van. Sheriff’s deputies located the van, unoccupied, on HWY 4. Case# 19-1444.

At 8:30 am, Corporal Baillie initiated a vehicle stop in the 4400 block of Pleasant Hill Road East. The male driver provided a false name. He was ultimately arrested for a warrant and providing a false name. Case# 19-1446.

At 11:00 am, Corporal Baillie initiated a traffic enforcement stop on Howe Road at Arnold Drive. The male driver was arrested for DUI, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Case# 19-1448.

At 12:50 pm, Officer Buda took an auto burglary report from a resident in the 1100 block Morello Park Drive. The stolen items included camera equipment, printers and office equipment. Case# 19-1449.

At 3:30 pm, Detective Carney responded to an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Alhambra Avenue, where several vehicles had their windows smashed and the interiors had been rummaged through. Case# 19-1452.

At 6:47 pm, Corporal Mayberry was contacted by a man driving into the Amtrak parking lot. The man was intoxicated and stated he had been assaulted. He was arrested for DUI. Case# 19-1454.

At 6:54 pm, Officer Montano arrested a man for a warrant near Jack in The Box. Case# 19-1455.

On May 27th at 1:26 am, Corporal Mayberry arrested the male driver of a vehicle for possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles). Case# 19-1457.

At 2:00 pm, Corporal Baillie was dispatched to the 1200 block of Rolling Hill Way for parking violations. A stolen trailer was located in the driveway of one of the residences. Another trailer parked in the area did not have any identification and was towed. A third vehicle was determined to be an unreported stolen vehicle; it was recovered. As the vehicles were being towed a man contacted Corporal Baillie regarding one of the trailers. He was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Case# 19-1460.

At 5:00 pm, Officer Lincoln arrested a man for driving on a suspended license in the area of Howe Road and Vista Way. Case# 19-1461.

On May 28th at 6:36 am, Sergeant Gaul arrested a man on Muir Road, near HWY 4, for driving without license. Case# 19-1466.

At 9:48 am, Officer Miller responded to a residence on Foster Street for a bullet hole found in the apartment. The investigation revealed that a neighbor accidentally discharged a firearm and the bullet went through the floor and into the unoccupied first floor apartment. The investigation is continuing. Case# 19-1468.

At 3:38 hours, officers received an LPR alert for a stolen vehicle near Alhambra Avenue and HWY 4. Sergeant Salamid located the occupied vehicle in the Quik Stop parking lot. The male driver was arrested without incident. Case# 19-1474.

At 6:47 pm, Officer Lincoln responded to a residence in the 5000 block of Hiller Lane for a verbal dispute. A man was arrested for a warrant. Case# 19-1477.

On May 29th at 2:42 pm, Acting Lieutenant Salamid arrested a man in the 100 block of Berrellesa Avenue for a warrant. Case# 19-1487.

On May 30th at 6:43 am, Officer Lucido arrested a man for a warrant in the area of Castro Street and Green Street. Case# 19-1488.

At 2:01 pm, Officer Wah assisted Police Assistant Tolliver, who was contacted by the owner of a vehicle she was towing in the 1100 block of Berrellesa Street. The owner, who was showing signs of drug intoxication, was upset about his vehicle being towed and he tried to interfere with the process. The man resisted Officer Wah and was detained after a brief struggle. He was arrested for resisting an officer and under the influence of a controlled substance. Case# 19-1491.

On May 30st at 6:44 pm, Captain Roth attempted to stop a motorcycle near Castro Street and Ward Street. The motorcycle did not yield and a short pursuit ensued to the area of Warren Street at Pine Street, where Captain Roth canceled the pursuit. Captain Roth was able to obtain the license plate number on the motorcycle and it was later located in the 2300 block of Monterey Drive. Case# 19-1493.

At 9:27 pm, Officer Wah responded to the 1800 block of Redwood Drive for a vehicle doing “donuts” in the street. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for DUI. Case# 19-1495.

At 1:26 am, Corporal Mayberry stopped a vehicle on Shell Avenue near Martinez Avenue. The occupants were arrested for warrants. Case# 19-1496.
