Police blotter for July 16- 31

On July 16th at 12:16 am Officer Breinig was dispatched to the railroad tracks near Ferry Street for a Red Honda that was stuck on the tracks. The car was unoccupied. Dispatch contacted the registered owner who stated that the car had been stolen in Concord. Officer Breinig recovered the car and it was towed by Ace Sierra. Case# 18-1679.

Sergeant Salamid and Officer Winslett were dispatched to 811 Ferry Street (Copper Skillet) for a medical emergency. Sergeant Salamid arrived and located a 59 year-old Martinez woman unconscious and in cardiac arrest. He immediately began CPR and they were later assisted by Consolidated Fire Station 14. After several minutes the woman began breathing on her own. She was then transported to via ambulance.

Officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Estudillo Street for a hit and run collision. The car had fled westbound on Shell Avenue. Officer Miller located the responsible car at Alhambra and D Street. Officer Breinig contacted the driver and arrested him for driving under the influence.

At 8:16 pm, Corporal Schnabel responded to Starbuck’s on Arnold Drive for a theft. He contacted the male suspect in the area and arrested him for possession of a controlled substance. Case# 18-1685.

On July 17th at 7:55 pm, Officer Leong responded to a fight between two male subjects at Amtrak. One male was arrested for battery and providing a false name. Case# 18-1696.

On July 18th at 12:25 am, Officer Breinig observed a fire at Advanced Tree Service on Howe Road, where several Conex boxes were on fire. It was handled by Con Fire. Inc# 1807180003.

On July 19th at 2:19 pm, MPD officers responded to the 2900 block of Alhambra Avenue for a report of a physical fight. Sergeant Salamid arrived and contacted a 39-year-old Martinez resident in the parking area of Alhambra High School. The man, who is on active probation, was under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of Methamphetamine and drug Paraphernalia. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF) for 11550(a) H&S, 11377(a) H&S and 1203.2 PC (Violate Probation). Case # 18-1709.

At 6:26 pm, Officer Breinig responded to the 300 block of Embarcadero for a theft of a package earlier in the day from the 3200 block of Alhambra Avenue. At the time of the call, the victim was following the suspect. Officer Breinig contacted the victim who then showed him a video of the suspect taking the package from her porch. Officer Breinig made contact with the suspect, a 34-year-old Martinez resident, as she was still in possession of the item in the package. The suspect was arrested for the package theft and possession of a controlled substance. The suspect was booked into MDF. Case# 18-1712.

On July 20th Martinez Officers responded to 3334 Alhambra Avenue, Safeway, on a report of a man shoplifting from the store and being aggressive. Officer Angoco contacted the man. He was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant and was arrested and booked into MDF without incident. Case# 18-1715.

Martinez Police arrived at Muir Station Road on a report of a male throwing rocks at passing vehicles and jumping out in front of traffic. Officers located the suspect on the BNSF train trestle above Alhambra Way. The suspect continued to throw rocks and railroad spikes at passing vehicles and officers. At times the suspect climbed over the railing and at one point stood on top of the rail. A Crisis Negotiations element and tactical members arrived on-scene. After a two-and-a-half-hour negotiation, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into MDF on multiple counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and felony vandalism. He is being held on $225,000 bail. Case# 18-1721.

On July 21st at 12:14 am, an accident occurred on Alhambra Avenue near Lindsey Drive. A motorcycle operator rode into the back of a pickup truck shortly after the truck turned north onto Alhambra Avenue from Lindsey Drive. Officer Ramos took case# 18-1724.

At 8:36 am Officer Angoco was dispatched to Main Street Plaza for a female removing her clothing. He contacted her and determined she was intoxicated. He arrested her for public intoxication and booked her into MDF. Case# 18-1728.

At 3:20 pm MPD units were dispatched to the 1200 block of Morello Avenue for a man who got out of a car on the freeway. He refused to talk with responding officers and was running up and down Morello Avenue. He finally laid on a bench on Arnold Drive and was detained without force. Case# 18-1729.

At 10:14 pm officers responded to the apartments in the 1400 block of Arnold Drive for a man outside laying under a window. The man was determined to not be able to care for his safety due to his level of alcohol intoxication. He was booked into MDF. Officer Montano case# 18-1731.

On July 22nd at 1:15 am, officers responded to Green Street at Hillside Drive for a man lying in the street behind a vehicle. The man was determined to not be able to care for his safety due to his level of alcohol intoxication. He was booked into MDF. Officer Montano case# 18-1733.

At 2:49 am Officer Montano located a man in the Quik Stop parking lot (3700 Alhambra Avenue) and she knew he had a felony warrant for his arrest. He was arrested and booked into MDF. Case# 18-1734.

At 4:46 am officers responded to the 2100 block of Forest Lake Place for a report of a garage door that had been pried open and a bicycle had been stolen. The investigation is continuing. Officer Ramos case# 18-1735.

At 7:40 am Sergeant Moore responded to 900 block of Roanoke Drive for an auto burglary that occurred overnight. Case# 18-1737.

At 2:19 pm Officer Angoco contacted a woman in the 3500 block of Pacheco Boulevard, and she had a warrant for her arrest. During the arrest she kicked Officer Angoco. She was booked on the warrant and battery on a peace officer. Case# 18-1740.

At 10:01 pm Officer Parsons attempted to stop a motorcycle southbound on Alhambra Avenue from Safeway (3334 Alhambra Avenue). He believed he knew who the operator was and the motorcycle did not have any lights illuminated. The vehicle did not yield and a pursuit ensued down Alhambra Avenue to Hwy 4, where Officer Parsons lost site of the motorcycle as it went east bound on HWY 4. The pursuit was canceled at this time. At 12:37 am, Sergeant Busciglio saw the suspect ride up to his residence on the motorcycle and more probable cause was established. The suspect was arrested and booked into MDF. Case# 18-1741.

On July 23rd at 7:56 am, Officer Winslett responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Hull Lane for a report of a stolen van. Case# 18-1744.

At 4:22 pm MPD officers responded to the 1000 block of Arnold Drive for a report of an adult male subject exposing himself on a County Connection Bus. The subject fled prior to police arrival, but was quickly located and arrested behind Home Depot for 314 PC – Indecent Exposure. Case# 18-1746.

At 8:36 pm Officer Breinig received a LoJack hit on a stolen vehicle. He located the unoccupied vehicle at Scenic Avenue and Cedar Street. He conducted surveillance on the vehicle and eventually two male subjects got in the vehicle. A stop was made on the vehicle and both males were arrested. Case# 18-1748.

At 12:10 pm Detective Miller took a stolen vehicle report from a resident in the 900 block of West Green Street. Case# 18-1752.

At 2:03 pm MPD officers responded to the Martinez Marina for a 72-year old male who fell off his boat. The male had been in the water for approx. 30-40 minutes. He called for help using a cell phone, but was too weak to climb out of the water. Officers, CONFIRE and AMR arrived to help. Inc# 1807240051.

At 6:47 pm Officer Leong arrested a male subject for arson at Amtrak for setting small fires to paper and vegetation. Case# 18-1755.

On July 25th at 2:45 am, officers responded to a subject breaking into vehicles on Tahoe Circle. The male subject left the area in a dark sedan with paper license plates. Officer Breinig located and stopped the subject, who was in possession of property belonging to the reporting party and another resident in the area. Officer Espinoza arrived and arrested the subject. Case# 18-1756.

On July 27th at 9:27 am, officers responded to Starbucks downtown for a subject who was eating the snacks on the counter without making payment and went into the bathroom refusing to leave. Officer Angoco contacted the suspect and he was arrested for theft and violating probation. Booked MDF. Case# 18-1773.

At 10:26 am officers responded to an argument between roommates at a residence on Ulfinian Way. One of the subjects was found to be wanted for a felony no bail warrant for vehicle theft and a $5,000.00 misdemeanor drug warrant. A probation search of his room resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine. Booked into MDF by Officer Parsons. Case# 18-1776. At 12:52 pm Officer Angoco discovered a subject laying down at the intersection of Marina Vista and Estudillo Street. He contacted the individual and determined he was intoxicated resulting in an arrest for public intoxication – booked into MDF. Case# 18-1778.

On July 27th at 4:28 pm, Officer Lincoln stopped a vehicle on Forsythia Way at Midway Drive. The stop resulted in the arrest of an individual for a $2,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for traffic violations. The individual was cite released. Case# 18-1780.

At 5:20 pm officers responded to the intersection of Ferry Street and Escobar Street for an attempt strong arm robbery. The suspect pushed the female victim down and demanded cash. The victim was able to retain her purse, but injured her arm. Captain Roth located the suspect as he boarded a bus at the Amtrak Station. The suspect was arrested for the attempt robbery and violating probation; he was booked into MDF by Officer Angoco. Case# 18-1781.

Officer Voyvodich was working with Alcohol Beverage Control on an operation targeting alcohol violations at different locations in the City when he found an adult male at Valley Convenient Mart that he knew was wanted. The suspect was arrested and booked MDF.

Officer Montano was on foot conducting a security check at Cue and Brew when she saw an individual stumbling through the parking lot. The individual was found to be intoxicated resulting in an arrest for public intoxication – booked into MDF.

On July 28th at 12:30 pm, officers were dispatched to Home Depot for a subject “huffing.” Officer Lincoln located an individual from Orinda who was ingesting “Duster.” She was arrested for possession of a huffing device and cite released. [Huffing involves ingesting compressed air from an air duster can (air duster is typically used to clean dust from computers), along with the chemicals in the air can, to get high.] Case# 18-1787.

Officers were dispatched to disturbance on Blue Ridge Drive. One of subjects contacted was arrested for a $5,000.00 misdemeanor warrant for numerous drug violations. The suspect was cite released by Officer Buda. Case# 18-1788.

Officers were dispatched to Bar Cava for the report an individual drawing swastikas and pentagrams on the businesses signs. Officer Lincoln located the suspect on Court Street and Escobar Street. He was arrested for vandalism and violating probation resulting in being booked into MDF. Case# 18-1789.

On July 29th at 8:30 am, Officer Angoco contacted an individual during a suspicious vehicle investigation on Alhambra Way and Muir Station Road. The individual was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia – cite released. Case# 18-1794.

At 9:30 am Officer Angoco contacted a person during a suspicious vehicle investigation on Court Street and Pine Street. The person was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The person was cite released. Case# 18- 1795.

At 11:10 am Officer Parsons contacted an individual, during a suspicious vehicle investigation behind the Lucky’s store. The individual was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and heroin. The person was cite released. Case# 18-1796.

At 2:00 pm Sergeant Gaul was on foot patrol of the camps along the railroad tracks behind the 800 block of Arnold Drive. One of the people he contacted was arrested for felony no bail warrant for possessing drugs for the purpose of sales. The person was booked into MDF. Case# 18-1797.

At 2:50 pm Officer Angoco contacted an individual on Alhambra Avenue at Ward Street which resulted in an arrest for public intoxication. The person was booked into MDF. Case# 18-1798.

On July 31st at 5:51 am, Officer Voyvodich took a stolen vehicle report. The vehicle was parked at 5:00 pm the day prior at 3979 Alhambra Avenue. The work van was located via GPS in Crockett. Case# 18-1811.
