MARTINEZ, Calif. – Martinez residents can browse vendors’ tables Saturday at the Martinez Marina during the Marina Swap meet.
At the same time, they also can get free compost given away through Republic (Allied Waste) Services.
An eclectic array of vendors will be selling items at the Swap Meet, an annual event.
Free compost is a recent addition to the Swap Meet. Those interested must bring a driver’s license with a Martinez address, since the giveaway is for Martinez residents only, said Marie Knutson, recycling coordinator.
They also must bring their own containers, she said. Each household can take home 30 gallons of compost, she said.
In addition, Republic (Allied Waste) Services will be collecting foam plastic, often called Styrofoam.
The foam must be clean, and foam packing “peanuts” will not be accepted, Knutson said.
